File taxes for software engineers

It will turn out a year since I join Google as software engineer passing out of college. Now in this tax filing season I am very much scared to file my taxes since I don't know anything about ITR. Can you guys help me suggest some good platforms for tax filing, I have heard about these: 1. Cleartax 2. Quicko 3. Taxbuddy Btw, haa anyone tried quicko? Have heard about their experience is smooth and nice? Pepul please help me with this..

I've used Quicko for last 2 years but faced an issue this year. They've started to push for a pro subscription if you've more than 100 transactions in your broker account for the FY. As I use smallcases for my stock investments, it'll easily cross 100 transactions as I've an active monthly SIP and monthly/quarterly rebalances. Then I tried using cleartax but it's unable to parse my form 16. Not sure if they'll also prompt for a subscription in the last step.

Income tax department website - it’s pretty neat and guided. If you don’t have very complicated transactions, give that a try before reaching out to a CA. Filing taxes is not rocket science for ITR1 and ITR2 at least. Filing ITR3 this time, will tell you if that is. :)

Have tried Quicko, it's really easy. Also it's Zerodha backed so I trust them. Cleartax is very shady (surprised because it's YC backed). I know some people who work at cleartax and Quicko both. Have heard some very shady and unethical stuff about cleartax. I've heard Quicko founder talk in multiple forums with brokers and he seems like a genuine guy.

Why don't you hire a CA? It will cost you some money 5k-10k, but you will be at peace.

Hi community, really love the support I get from folks here. Thanks a lot. Here is another thing I need some opinions on. I did an internship last year and there was some TDS deducted. That was my only source of main income. I checked the Form26AS and yes it was present along with some TDS on my MF investment and all. Now this is my first time filing ITR, how should I go approach? Get a CA? If yes, how to contact one? How much do they usually charge? File by myself? Or any tips you have would be really appreciated. You can also share your experience. Thank you 😊.

How do you file taxes with foreign stocks in your portfolio ?

For US based company's employees which provide stocks - How do you file your income tax ? 1. Do you declare your foreign stocks in ITR ? 2. Do you do self filing ? Filing ITR via ClearTax

I filed ITR yesterday via ClearTax. It was super smooth unlike the experience I had two years back. Had to pay 1.6k as it was classified as ITR3. It automatically pulled data from Savings bank / FD interest details and from Groww. So had no manual entry in any step. Finally had to pay unlike last time (even for the unassisted process) and then even the step in IT portal was done automatically (via the APIs) Overall, it went well and I could file in about 20 min. Just wondering if it's all good or should I be worried if anything went wrong? Should I get a second review from any CA? Note: I had to pay about 12k tax which CT calculated and I have paid the same.
