Marketing Manager vs. Product Manager

Hi – I work in a seed startup as a Product Marketer. YoE: 3.5 years Current compensation: 14LPA (fixed) + ~1LPA (ESOP) Location: BLR Just wondering what's the current pay I can expect if I decide to switch?

I am thinking to move from my current role (operations, a combo of things) to more niche. I am evaluating taking this switch, honing my skills specifically to B2B marketing. (I feel B2C marketing is getting overcrowded) I have an experience of about 10 years across different startups, and I know a fair essence of organic marketing and brand building. What would be a logical salary if I move into a head of marketing role, in B2B startups?

Hey all, I'm seeking some advice and guidance from this amazing community. I'm currently at a crossroads in my career and would appreciate any insights from those who have been in a similar situation. For the past 12 years multiple domains like Business, Digital marketing, Ui Ux & digital transformation, lastly 1.5yrs back I had the opportunity to become a founder of a startup where I handled both product and marketing. Unfortunately, that venture didn't find PMF, but I gained valuable experience in the process. Now, I'm considering whether to pursue a career as a product manager or product marketer. Also i didn't borrow any salary from the startup will it have any negative effects & how to mitigate them? Lastly based on the above background what would be the ideal package to go for?

YOE: 4.5+, MBA (marketing) from a good B-school.

I am an MBA in Marketing and currently working as a Market Researcher. I want to switch to Product Management. Suggest a good online course which is not too heavy on my pockets or if I should I consider something else? I’m looking to pivot from MR as the pay I’m getting is peanuts here, extra long working hours without any compensation and too slow of growth, monetarily. Help a brother out. TIA.

I had 4+ yrs of experience in Data and moved to PM role in US Startup a year back. The pay is great. But I'm not doing the product management work here. I'm doing a general project management kind of work. Pros: Good pay Got the role of PM. I chose this opportunity only because of this role. Now I'm planning to change job and get into Indian startups. I can manipulate my responsibilities to describe for a PM role. But will I get enough opportunity with this background - Moved from analytics, experience in US Startup, no real product work (but I can update that) or should I go back to Analytics only. Please comment.

I want to know the right time to switch? How much time should someone with 5-7 yrs of experience in product / business strategy spend in one company (ideally)? Context: I am in a product strategy role where I am working with the founders and leadership team. I have done engineering and MBA from tier 1 colleges. I have 2 yrs of pre MBA and 4.2 yrs of post MBA experience. My Annual compensation is the range of 35-40 lpa. Post MBA, I have done a startup for 1.5 yrs, worked in 2 unicorns for 1 yr each. In a serious B funded startup right now with 9 months of experience.

I'm working as a technical product manager who has transitioned from analytics/data science role with over 5+ yoe and 2yoe as PM. I am earning in the range of 35-55LPA right now. While I am happy with the salary, I am not content with the role I have performed as PM so far. When I go for textbookish PM tasks and roles, I feel I don't do so much in my daily routine. Because of the nature of companies I worked in I didn't get a lot of hands on exposure into UX and the growth side of the job. I don't have a lot of confidence with many areas of product management and feel like at this stage for me to grow needs a significant skill and confidence boost. To do the same I'm looking for courses/degrees. I'm hoping to get more better opportunities if I have certification in my portfolio. What are your thoughts on the topic? Also, if you could suggest whether Hero vired certification in product management partnered with INSEAD will be a good choice? I will really appreciate objective feedback / frameworks that will help me with making the decision.
