"No constraint for the right candidate"

I was interviewed by a US startup whose JD mentioned that their compensation is comparable to big tech and there are no constraints for the right candidate. I went through the entire process (for 5 YOE) and ended up getting an 11 LPA senior SDE offer. When I asked about how this comp's comparable to big tech, they started spouting some PPP difference crap. Later, they updated the JD to mention the 7 LPA to 12 LPA range but forgot to remove the statement about comparable big tech compensation.

Why stop at 1cr, no constraint they said. Better give a blank cheque!
