Got laid off today, it took 1 hr call to tell me iam layer off.

Hi folks, I got laid off today from a YC-backed startup (W23) citing a shift in product focus. Was part of the core team since Oct '21, initially as an intern then later converted to FTE in '22. Got a decent (30%+) increment this year. I was leading the mobile platform but currently, I'm on a notice period. CTO is supportive and helping me via their network. I'm a recent graduate and this is my first time experiencing a layoff. What should I do now? What things should I keep in mind looking for the next opportunity? I was recently asked to resign/layoff along with 40% of the engg and product function at the org with 1 month pay. I have 1 yr in Fintech Product M and 3 years in Travel tech. How the hiring situation like right now? Anyone currently looking please share. Referrals appreciated.

Hey everyone, I am a Junior FE Dev (from my prev work title coz my exp is 1YoE). Have been working extensively on React.JS and Redux. My previous company was great. I was loving it. Sadly a few months ago, I was laid off. I still don't know the reason behind why I was one of the laid off people. Anyway, I moved on from that depression and started searching for a new job from last month. Made it to final rounds in pretty much every interview I sat for. But then got rejected in final round for crazy reasons including "we currently don't have funds to hire you". One of them even said they are on hiring freeze, literally in the final round 🥲. Haven't been able to get a job anywhere. I don't know if my skills aren't enough to be hired or is it something else. "What's hot in FE right now ? Like what skills can fetch me a job ?" - Started asking this myself as well as some of my good friends, but they say don't learn skills for getting job, learn it for yourself. Though it's true, I don't have much savings to support myself for atleast a month. So, I have to get into a job to keep myself from going bonkers under the financial crunch that I can clearly see ahead of myself if I stay unemployed in the next 20 days. Yes, the tech market is in its winter season. I understand that, but I still see there are so many openings in the market for ppl with 1YoE like me and skillset that matches mine, yet I never hear back from them or just get rejected in final rounds 😕. I'm absolutely clueless on what to do right now. Any suggestions would be really helpful.

I am having 3. 6 years of experience in service based, but due to cost cutting and lack of project, I lost my job, asked to do force resignation. today is my last working day., I started preparing for product based companies few months back. I completed dsa and started working on development to build some projects because I have zero knowledge on building applications. but this layoff happened in middle, Right now I have two options. Either join any any company that I get by makinng my profile as immediate joiner obviously it will be again service based company and it will be my 3rd company or shall I persue my dream of cracking or joinng in product or unicorn by having gap. I put lot of efforts for my goal now I am in middle of achieving it. Any suggestions will be Appriciated. Comming to money side, I have made some savings to survive for 8 to 9 months because I am single so no responsibilities. But my only confusion is shall I let this gap or shall I join in any company immediately, if I need to join any company then I have to join again in service based company. Please suggest me which one to choose. Also will Gap matters for my next employer.

Iam a product designer and front-end developer plus a no code developer. I have 1.7 yrs experience. I don't have a big package ,6 lac plus 4 lac I make via freelance. Iam not in a big metro city . My expense are all around 6 k a month. My gf is a junior scientist working for us base company which makes batteries for electric vehicles.she has package of 8 lac. And she is working near my home town. We both are based from kochi kerala. She has approsal every 3 months .and have lot of opportunities to travel outside India attend conference. And it is a rare opportunity. Now we are planning to get married. But I don't want her to leave her Job because she had learned so much and finally she got this job . The problem is ill have to move to kochi ,there the packages are not that great. I'll have to settle for less below 10lac. From some mentors I talked they say I would get around 16 lac easily. The only reason I never bothered jumping was I was very comfortable in my job and and my total income was also good. But now iam thinking what should I do. Since she has to be offline work from home is not option. I'll have to move . I'll be near my home and parents . But I will have a lame packge . What should I do.im confused 😕

Context: 10.5 YOE, Marketing lead. I've been looking for a switch since September last year. I'd seen signs of maybe my role or the company itself folding very early and knew 'twas time to bolt. But it's not that easy. Back then - 1 year in a startup meant hey not bad, people still spoke to you and considered your profile. These days, they treat you like Ebola if you've not had your ass stuck in the same place for 3-5 years. Anyway, so the majority of my time searching for jobs was the shitty Easy Apply or IIMJOBS premium account route. Suprise suprise. It doesn't work. But hey I was still employed and not nearly as motivated as someone who's unemployed. Cut to layoffs: Got laid off with my whole team and a huge chunk of other leaders. My first layoff, felt hilariously like the last day of school. To the org's credit they gave us 3 month severance, leave encashments and extra months for those who'd been there for 2 years+. In hindsight hearing the horror stories of 2k severance from Byju's. I'm grateful for the nice golden parachute I got. I'll be honest, it contributed heavily to my mental stability. I had time, I had leverage, I didn't have to run for the first shitty opportunity that came my way. The How I did it (why you struggled through the above stream of consciousness) - Wrote to 159 founders with one pagers to 35 of them with ideas on how i'd lead their marketing function. 5 replies. 3 interviews. 2 offers - didn't take em cuz they were super early stage or diff cities. This is immediately in month 1 so I've already started feeling icky about not getting great brands to have in my set. - Easy Applied to 768 (I ran a Gmail search, this is a real number) jobs. 99% no responses or you've been rejected. -Kept changing one letter on my Naukri.com profile, got me 6 calls, 3 interviews and 1 conversion I think theres a word limit to posts 🥲 following up as comments below.

I worked at a remote start up in digital marketing space and helped them generate huge revenue and creative programs. I always received praise from my team, PODs and Clients. Today in the name of company profits and without proper reason because of my manager's favourism and ass saving of her family n friends working in the company I am told to resign. I am feeling very broken as I was always getting recognized and I loved to create good brands and now I am disposed like I wasn't there only because of my toxic dalal manager.
