No end to job reservations

I have been thinking about reservations in jobs and also in the exam cut offs. Reservation was given to the Scheduled Castes and Tribes because they had no land ownership and they were also oppressed throughout history. To uplift them from poverty, they were given these reservations. I don't have a problem with this part. Say, person X(Gen 1) who is from a SC, gets a job. He marries and has kids. His kids(Gen 2), also SC, will get jobs. These kid's father had an income, so it is not like they were extremely poor. As we move down to Gen 3, I believe they would not be poor anymore. We can say that they have been uplifted from poverty. Should these Gen 3 kids be getting reservations in Jobs/exams? These Gen 3 kids now have money and resources and links/contacts. But still they will opt-in for the reservations. They will eat up jobs which should instead go to poor people from the SC/STs. Also, by not ending the reservation for them, even after 3-4 generations, we are implying that no matter how much money you have, you will always be of a (so called)lower caste. I believe Multi-Generational reservations are holding the poor people of SC/ST and India back.

Your deductions around multi-generational reservation raise valid concerns but we should take into account aspects beyond just economic status. Contrary to your implicit assumption, existence of adequate monetary resources doesn't necessarily equal social acceptance. Centuries-old stigma, discrimination, and prejudices can't be overturned in just a few generations by purchasing power alone. Caste, a historically entrenched system, constitutes social identification, and continues to influence people's lives, opportunities, and treatment in society. Reservation doesn't aim to revamp economic status alone; it bolsters proactive participation, representation, and inclusion from historically marginalized communities on all platforms, extending beyond employment into education, politics, and social environment retaining larger goal of social justice.
