Senior taking credit for my work

I have recently joined a startup as an APM (My first PM role) and my manager is teaching me the bits and pieces of Product Management. The issue is, while he's helpful and experienced in this field, he sometimes talks to me in a very condescending way which kinda hurts me. I agree that I have a lot to learn and getting a job as an APM is a big thing, especially when you've been in a specialist role for all your life but I still don't get the point of patronizing your juniors. I'm trying to get better at writing documentation and specs but I get very disheartened after every spec review meeting I schedule with him. Any tips for handling this? And what are some ways to get better at writing documentation and specs?

I recently transitioned from an intern to a FTE in a startup. I'm working on a SaaS product as an APM. I have been taking up a lot of work, interacting with devs, QA, designers but neither do I feel that my manager notices what all I'm working on, nor does he seem satisfied by my work. (All my PRDs need to be refined 3-4 times 😢). I'm afraid of negative reviews and more about the job itself. I rejected 2 of my campus offers, one of them being at an IB, to join this startup, but things don't seem to be going that great. Workload is not an issue, I'm willing to take up more things, atleast as of now, but I feel that my manager doesn't let me pick more items as he feels that I'm not performing upto the mark writing the PRDs. Could you guys please help me with it? I actually need some guidance around the same.

I am fed up with people who try to steal other people’s credit. Be it your manager, your colleague or anyone how do you avoid them from taking your credit for the work you have done. Worst part is seeing them try hard to showcase it as their own. What do you all suggest for such situations?

Hey, I am a SWE with 2 yrs exp. recently I found out that juniors in my team are being paid atleast 10% more than me. This thing has been bugging me so much that I setup a meeting with my manager but here’s the thing- I have no idea how to talk about this to my manager. I obviously think it’s unfair given how much more work I am doing. Can experienced people here please guide me on how to approach this meeting? Thanks!

My manager goes into meeting without me a lot of times. Later he comes and explains me what needs to be done. It makes me feel like his assistant. If this continues, how will I make a presence of my own in front of the stakeholders? Ultimately I need good reviews from them and not just from my manager for a good appraisal. How should I deal with it or convey it?

I've been working as an APM at a startup for about 6 months. I kinda fell into the role. Was a developer previously for about a year. So in total about 2 years of industry experience. As an APM, I've not gotten a lot of opportunities to work on hands on PM stuff. My line manager isn't a great mentor and despite having conversations with him to give me more product related tasks, my situation has not improved. What should I do? Will I be able to land another APM or a PM job elsewhere?

As the title suggests, does it make sense to talk about a colleagues’s inability to deliver to my manager. The colleague’s incompetence to take ownership is very evident now to everyone and the manager is not taking any steps on it. Others have to basically cleanup and babysit him. Worse part, this colleague gets paid the highest in the team. At this point it’s just breeding resentment across the team. How to handle this situation? Any tips. Early stage startup, the manager is part of the founding team.

Hi, I recently went on a vacation and informed my manager (CEO) that I won’t be available for a week. He did not say anything but I could sense that he is not happy. On my vacation, I get his text asking what’s the progress at work? I Informed him about my vacation but he asks me to work for 1-2 hours ON A VACATION (This is when they promised flexibile work policy) I politely decline to which he doesn’t say anything. Now, when I’m back, he has started to micromanage and says my work is disappointing according to the standards? I could get that he must be unhappy because a few things didn’t go our way. But, his whole behaviour has changed and he has started acting hostile towards me. I try to ignore and carry on with my work but it gets on my nerves sometimes. Do I continue silently or should I confront? If yes, then how?

I have joined this new company Individually contribute and work with folks onsite. I report to a manager who have multiple projects There is this guy who is like 3-4 yrs experience but behaves like he is the boss when manager isn't around Ruins standups every day with digressions and lengthy non sensical updates He started trying overpower me with some nasty remarks Everybody is fed up with him, With holds information, Treated interns as shit Even seniors are troubled but don't confront aggressively Got to know one of the recent left employee has reprimanded him and also shared the conflict with higher ups They are saying no use as he behaves well with manager and his manager I literally want to confront him and say to behave and act professionally With his snarky remarks some of my days going bad Being 11 years experience I feel so frustrated that I am still facing these narcissists Please advise how to treat this prick in a good way and stop worrying Ps I am all ok with years of experience always feel good work place is major contribution for any ones win
