Living in Bangalore is like participating in a daily obstacle course of stupidity these days. It's like the city is hosting the World Championships of Not Using Common Sense. Day by day, it’s getting crazy in here. People are literally just straight-away stupid. Picture this: I'm in the metro, following the line like some good boii. But no, here come the backline breakers, sprinting ahead like they just got the memo that the free WiFi is about to expire. They won’t even have the patience to let others deboard from the station (bs ghusna hai sbko). On the road: Small Aile is there, and these morons either walk in the middle of the road or walk slowly like they are going to maaiyat. There is no way to even overtake them. One day a couple was literally just standing in the middle of the fucking metro entry gate, and all other people were going from sides. I was literally at my fucking limits; I controlled the urge to ask them that whatever shit they're discussing, if that is a national concern, then it’s okay; otherwise, please fuck around on the side. And what’s up with this throwing garbage on the road thing, literally every morning on the road, tons of food, spillage, and disposals of whatnot can be seen. God, please throw it in the trash.

Saw a kid throwing all biscuit packet he was eating on roadside, while waiting for bus. The uniform looked like that of a decent school. When I asked them why they are throwing garbage on road, his mother went apeshit and asked me to mind my own business. Like it's my business. I pay taxes for my city to be clean. Another story, saw a chapri couple doing *khwabo ke parinde* dance move while riding on bike. That too near cubbon park traffic. Saw them fall near traffic signal ahead

In an AC Volvo bus, an uncle was throwing some garbage. Wanted to tell him off but the person with me asked me to ssshh. I just glared and made snide remarks to my friend - educated and supposedly wealthy people can’t maintain basic civic sense. I came to Bangalore for the first time a week before not getting what's special about banglore over that in my office (joined 10 days ago) everyone speaks kannad or Tamil and I am standing like an idiot in between 3 people... even if they know Hindi and English they speak kannada only knowing that I don't understand

I have faced this thing a lot in Pune with Marathis. But to my observation, in the corporate world, mostly Kannada people are speaking English. I can't say the same about the Tamils; they’re again hardcore like Marathis.

@satan - as much as this is a rant, I felt good reading this. It’s good to know I’m not alone in feeling this way. Apathy and indifference are what will kill us. In our small spheres we should do our bit and educate people. :) Throwing garbage on the road is the worst. Absolutely no excuse. Another small thing - at the airport after using the trolley / tray at security check scanner, leave it back in its place. How hard is that? Annoying as hell to see trolleys strewn around waiting for the worker to clear it or trays piling up. Cmon - clean up after use. Wasting water is another pet peeve of mine - leave taps running in public places, water leaks and no one bothers to report or shut the tap. Tragedy of commons at its best.

No Indian metro cities are livable. Expenses through the roofs, lack of common sense among citizens, pollution and 'chalta hai' attitude among service industry. At least, B'lore can boast of better weather. Delhi-NCR has worst of it all.

Almost native bangalorean here... This is a bloody sad state of our cities brother. In first world walking would itself be a picnic. Their public places are maintained well. Here, even in mg road brigade road you will find some dog/animal poop etc.. And garbage is a constant issue. Check London. That city and country runs on rules. They follow and enforce it very strictly. That's the only way. We must start doing that here. It works. And solution is not that people need to become more civilized. We have to make them more civilized

Definitely! Implement a rule, impose fines on a few people, and the next day everyone will follow the rules, no question asked. Currently, they have made New York out of Delhi, and the city is clean due to the G20 happening. I wonder for how long? As soon as it's over, everything will resume from earlier. Sad reality!

Honestly it amazes me everyday I step out into traffic in this city. 1. Tempos, autos, two wheelers just parked where ever tf they want, talking to their long lost cousin by the looks of it. 2.The random “hero” scooter dude who HAS to run the red light and almost take me out with him. 3. Jaywalking, lol. What’s that here? As long as you can cross the road with your life be thankful. 4. Lanes are merely a suggestion unless there’s actually a fucking physical barrier that prevents people cutting lanes. It’s pretty much tarmac chaotic dashing cars let loose. Idk how this city will ever handle the progress it’s supposedly destined to have.
