I hope we never get to this level 😅

There's this coworker who comes off as extremely aggressive during discussions and individual interactions. This is causing a shift in entire team's environment in the wrong direction. Personally this is causing me to avoid getting into discussions with them. I'm looking for ways to deal with this person and keep the work environment peaceful. Here are some of the observations about their behaviour: 1. Highly opinionated and treat others who have a different opinion as hostile. 2. When someone else is trying to explain something which needs to be explained serially A -> B -> C, and they are interested in C, they get restless and start badgerring with questions about C while the other person is still on A. 3. In discussions, which require a deep understanding of the product, which they do not have yet, instead of admitting that they have doubts and asking questions, they try to act as if they understood it when clearly they didn't because their senior was present. For instance, they paid attention in the beginning and then got busy on their phone during the meeting and when asked if they understood, they just told the agenda of the meeting instead of what was discussed. 4. This is what tipped me off the edge. During a meeting which didn't involve their senior, they got easily frustrated when others were giving an opinion different from theirs and pointing out the issues with their opinion. After a couple of minutes, it turned into a heated argument and they started raising their voice and started making illogical sarcastic remarks. And after a bit of that they changed their tone into rude frustrated disinterest and rudely remarked "do whatever you want to do". So far we have tried to use humor to deescalate the situation. But this is clearly not gonna work in the long run, and their behaviour is getting worse day by day. I am trying to avoid a confrontation with them because it is not my place and I don't want it to get ugly.

Absolutely crazy stuff. To summarize what I read: 1) Byju's apparently transferred $533Mn to Camshaft Capital - a random hedge fund in Miami that was started by a 23 year old, with barely any investing experience. 2) This hedge fund is run out of a building that has an iHOP (yes the food chain). When asked about the whereabouts, nobody even recognizes if the fund actually exists there 3) This fund typically accepts only upto $50Mn. How come Byju's transferred $533Mn to them? 4) 2023 Ferrari Roma, a 2020 Lamborghini Huracán EVO, and a 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith -> All registered on this fund's papers 5) Now, Byju's lenders have filed a case against Camshaft in the US. Curious, I have been pretty blind sided from the real money gaming space. Anybody actually seen instances of people being addicted/throwing away large amounts of money on Dream11/MPL etc?

Fantastic news at Porter! HR just informed us that we'll be playing a fun game of musical chairs with our vehicles every morning! Who wouldn't want to spend an extra 30 minutes every day circling the block looking for a spot to park? 🤷🏻‍♂️ And if we're not lucky enough to snag one of the precious 35 car spots, we'll get to spend the rest of the day worrying about whether or not we'll get towed or ticketed for parking in the wrong spot. I know it’s a very common question, and impossible to know or answer. But curious how you folks here rationalize the meaning of life. Add your age if that’s okay, for good measure For me: I’m 27, my life’s purpose (or so I think) is to build something that helps a whole lot of people have a better life. And it is to make the people around me - family, friends, strangers happier (the scale of which depends on how successfully I pull this off). Whats yours? Would love to engage on this :)

For as long as AI has been around (milliseconds on the timescale of humanity), there has been an increasingly negative view on job security and whose job is on the chopping block next I submit the following points, and I wanted your take on them 1) True beauty is irrational: foundational and advanced AI models take after datasets and truths known to humans forever. However true inspiration (a genuinely beautiful new sound, genres of music, acting out of spite and creating something new) is so inherently human that we ourselves can’t predict anything that hinges on an unanswered question 2) AI can’t fix your toilet: weirdly enough, the jobs that require real world skills (carpentry, masonry, cooking, physical art) are not just safe, but likely to become future proof, while all our computer based jobs (most, not all) can be automated given time. What a fantastic return to roots. Evolution didn’t give 99.999% species opposable thumbs and we won’t give our AI overlord them either lol 3) AI needs a plug point: dystopian commenters say that AI can take us over. How? If processing power is finite based on available energy, pulling the plug can effectively guillotine any threat to our life So many people on this forum wonder whether they’re next (some have found out already, and we pick them up and help them because we hate the future) but I hope we can laugh at these moments in the future because if I’m wrong, and Skynet really does figure out how to make things happen, then at least we will all die having seen this inevitable future and having laughed at it’s ugly face
