Does this any make sense or am I missing something?

So, I have been job hunting for the past 10 months since my layoff. Everytime I reach the final round, got rejected with common as well as absurd reasons. So, since the last 2 months, I've been looking for opportunities that I turn it into a full time job of my own, and maybe eventually a business of my own. But a lot of people with whom I shared my future plans were like "Bruh, don't jump into running a business because you failed to get into a job since your layoff". Why is their introspect like this ? Are they being jealous? Are they being genuine? Am I missing something? Confused. What are your opinions on this ? Is it wrong to start something of my own when I can't find the opportunities that I want via a full time job as an employee of a company ?

I'm yet to figure out how much revenue I can generate from this. But there's a lot of missing puzzle pieces that are basically required to get started. Like time and resources management, accounting (?), researching about PMF and stuff. As a founder yourself, have you felt the same, like missing puzzles to get started ? Did you go through any basic resources that helped you with this ? Or were you like "F it, let me get started and see how things goes and figure out a way" ?

When I started I only had the idea but we had done the pilot at the time I was working. Left the job when we started working on the product (Bad call, should've hustled more to build the product along with the job itself). There's never enough time with or without job, you always have to find a way to take out time. Resources are easily available nowadays, people are more welcoming now if you want to discuss with them about the idea or a problem. I think those things are not that a big a challenge, but if you want to do it without a job in hand, you should clearly know from what day you'll start getting the revenues and at what point of time it will become a breakeven.

Starting something on your own involves high risk. People usually don't have that risk appetite or can contemplate doing things on their own. They haven't seen the other side. Hence the negative comments. Start something of your own, be successful and it would be the same guys telling their other friends about you. It is just how it is.

True. I felt the same, but its the financial risk appetite that I'm missing IG. Maybe that's what they are pointing at ?
