Profitable software focused companies/startups in India

1 year back all startups were losing money like crazy while all of a sudden everyone from Swiggy to Meesho to Unacademy are profitable or EBITDA positive. Other companies which were profitable earlier have not shown a spike in profit. Were these companies uselessly burning money earlier if they can just suddenly become profitable in 6-8 months

What are some good saas companies in India to explore?

I'm seeing so many posts where startup employees are cribbing about things like layoffs, work culture etc etc. Doesn't seem like they have perspective on everything it takes to build a startup. I've built a failed startup myself and have immense respect for founders who are grinding it out there in such difficult recessionary circumstances. And then you have so many of the engineers and PMs cribbing about basics without talking about important things like learning growth, building for the future etc. Why such myopia? I work at a big tech and envy the speed at which startups move, the big responsibility everyone gets to handle, the fast career growth. All these things are being cribbed about. They crib about founders wanting more. Their job is to ensure success, not to give lifetime jobs to entitled people. They have more headaches you can imagine. In my small startup I had a million headaches. I can only imagine how hard it must be to run larger ships. Is everyone joining a startup these days looking for a get rich quick scheme?

Which YC funded Indian startups have been successful over the years? Successful = Profitable / Growing Revenue YoY with necessary burn / Dominant Market share. The Indian startups accepted list seems to have increased to a handful every year, but don't see any of them creating the impact that one expects from businesses selected by a seed platform that prides itself on extreme scrutiny for all applicants. Where do you think is the gap? American understanding of Indian business models / consumers / market or somewhere else?

Which startup, currently valued > $100mn, has the best growth potential in next 3 yrs in your opinion? Why? No self promotion please.

It’s common knowledge that many millionaires were minted by IPOs ( likes of abnb, meta, coinbase ). Are there examples of similar gains in the Indian startup ecosystem, for mere software engineers? Especially the companies that ipo’d on Indian markets.

Don't like the VC influenced unsustainable growth and hustle culture. Want to consider moving to a place with a respectful environment, no mindless, focus on growth, and a profitable business. Do share names.

Might be a good bet to filter out the ones with good culture, and apply there if you want a somewhat safe but growing career. Does anybody know startups here with good culture?

Can anyone help me, how/where to understand the startups cash runway and how to calculate it? Example: Byjus, ola etc

Heard from most people that there’s a lot of crunch. Wondering if anyone at their companies feels like their startup is growing despite the slowdown. Razorpay, CRED, and are seeing tighter regulations and downrounds. The food delivery companies have all gone through their down rounds and readjustment of expectations. Even SaaS most founders have a poor revenue/employee ratio and the india story is still yet to play out for the newer bets. Just yesterday Oslash announced it’s shutting down its app. Any green shoots ☘️? And if there are maybe it’s a good thread for folks to try and hire.
