Am i doing good by leaving enggineering?

I am an engineering student in Bangalore I have read about different jobs in first year and now I am getting really interested in finance. I have no interest in core engineering and tech and Consulting is difficult to get into right after undergraduate. But I am feeling really under confidence to jump into it , I feel I am making a wrong decision. I have seen people who did only finance related internships in their engineering but they are from IITs . Any engineer who switched to finance here can share your experience ? I got interested in finance after reading about PE , VC , investing. .

Any IB folks here ? Am from a tier 1 college, JEE <400, Mathematics undergrad Most of my seniors are into SDE/ML/Quant I have a decent amount of knowledge in financial modelling , and a good grasp of Python, and SQL Okayish on PowerPoint Did a research internship on options pricing How do I break into IB ? I will be eligible to take CFA in August 2025, before that I am looking for an internship to boost my skills

I am from a Tier 1 engineering college. Have done multiple stints in education and ed tech and am now at a VP position at a mid size edu company. Earning 50 LPA post 8 years of Work Ex. I can keep going at this rate and will have a comfortable life and also be in leadership positions which I enjoy. However I have been tempted to start up to have a shot at exponential gains in life- whether that is growth, money or influence over others. But then sanity also says most startups fail and why you want to spoil a good path. Anyone else faced this constant oscillation and how do you think about it or go about addressing it

Specifically a question to all the t1 tech clg grads (mainly software engineers) earning 1l+ pm out of clg with a lot of scope for growth. Post mba avg salary is 1.5l per month. I can understand ppl desperate for a career change and non tech ppl who are underpaid and don't really have ab option but it baffles me why well paid folks would shell out 30lakhs kr take the burden of loan just to learn how to appear smarter than you actually are instead of investing it for a meagre salary increase that can be achieved by job switches. I'd love to hear any insights about ppl who've already been in the space. Why u did, salary PRE post sector etc

I did my engineering from a very basic college and have not done MBA yet, below is my career graph please suggest if I am at the right path or not 1. Associate Software Engineer- 1 years experience at service based company 2. PMO - same company 1.5 years experience 3. Project Analyst- 6 months service based company 4. Ed-Tech start up- 3 years Senior Program Manager 5. Program Manager- 1.2 years Product Based e-commerce start up( Not Amazon, Flipkart type) 6. Product Manager - 4 months till now, same company My salary growth been like 3.5lpa, 5.5lpa, 6lpa,11lpa, 16lpa,22lpa (all fixed) If I compare to other product managers my salary is very low but I just transitioned to product role and even though it’s very hard for me to learn I am putting 100% effort. I am 22yo and just graduated from a tier 3 college with Btech degree. Currently placed in a startup as a Frontend Engineer CTC 7LPA remote. I am confused should I prepare for masters and do that or should I work hard in FE and switch after 1-2 year for better pay. And what one should do? Masters in Cs or MBA , I know both are different but still confused.

Hi, I know it’s a much debated topic but I wanted honest views of my fellow grapers/viners/grapeviners. How valuable is an MBA as a PM? What are the trade-offs - MBA vs Non MBA? Does it affect the career 10 years down the line? About myself: I’ve 3.5 years of work experience as a PM in the BFSI sector. I did my engineering from a tier 1 institute and started my career as a PM. Currently wondering what to do next. The learning experience in the current company has been below par as of today with no signs of improvement. I would like to explore VC, PE but I’m happy with PM too. If you are pro MBA, bonus points for suggesting any relevant courses. If against, then please suggest any upskilling resources 🙌🏻 TIA

This is mostly for people who have spent 10+ years in the industry. I’m sure we all can agree that the hiring and salary boom that we witnessed in 2021-22 is mostly over now. Now it’s more about surviving the job market rather than printing asymmetrical amount of money But how has it turned out for people who’ve been in the game for too long. I know some people who switched jobs too quickly and are at a higher package but still not content. At the same time, I know a few seniors who’re still in my first company and are happier than ever with the work. I understand that in Tier-1 cities, the expense itself is more and you’re sometimes forced to switch just to stay afloat. But what would you recommend new joiners based on your experience? Does chasing money in early years help later or only focusing on skills?

So basically an Engineering plus MBA guy here , stuck in a job that has nothing to do with finance under a manager who undermines every effort towards simplifying things and I'm considering upgrading myself to something better. So CFAs of grapevine what do you recommend , wher to start what to avoid and everything in between
