Introducing KiranaPro
I would like to introduce you all my new startup, KiranaPro which we are launching in Bangalore first. You can join the waitlist at www.kirana.pro
Let me know what you think of the idea. It’s like NammaYatri but for Kiranas.
I am currently building Kirana.Pro an anti Zepto model where we don’t have any dark stores. Instead we partner with nearby Kirana stores. What do you think of this idea? Can it win like how Namma Yatri won against Ola and Uber?
Apart from the fact that zepto, Grofers(now Blinkit) started with similar model, There are other people still doing it. Phonepe has app called Pincode which does this with ONDC integration. I'm not sure if they are doing that well, but I've hardly seen anyone use it. Also how do you differentiate from Pincode ?
I don’t know if you’ve surveyed the market before picking up this idea. There are lots of similar business models, will highlight major problems as I worked in the ecosystem -
Shop owner doesn’t have an obligation to fulfil the order leading to failed orders.
No commission in itself isn’t sustainable
Comparing it with Namma Yatri (NY) is fundamentally wrong. In NY payment is done post the service fulfilment, CoD is one of the costliest mechanism in any eCommerce. There’s no RTO cost in NY, in kirana there would be a huge RTO cost.
No, too many smart people have done that model. Unless there is something different in the last 2-3 years, there is not fundamental reason for that model to exist now.
I can go into the depths (inconsistent inventory at kiranas, price of delivery, not a superior experience vs Zepto etc.)
I have made Success vs Fail, hope it may help:
Success:
Fail:

Hi folks,
I'm Aadit, Co-Founder & CEO at Zepto. We're one of India's fastest growing consumer internet companies and are today present across 10+ cities in the country.
I'd love to chat with you folks about my journey in building...
Hey @Aadit I’m @salt Some questions from my side: 1. As companies scale there are many diverging opinions...
Do you think Kirana stores will die due to dark stores? Or they will start using technology?
Ps: I am starting something on this space called KiranaPro.
