It's been close to a year since I am earning a salary and this is what I do:
1. Invest a little less than 30% straight into MFs. I have three ongoing SIPs- small cap, flexicap and a Large + Midcap fund. (Planning to increase the amount further into these and not start a new sip)

2. Max out 80C by putting the entire limit in PPF, this is on top of what is by default deposited into EPF.

3. A little (inconsistently) into direct stocks as and when I find or get to know about a decent trade opportunity.

4. An LIC ULIP plan that my father made me subscribe to 🙂 (hopefully will end in a couple more years)

Tips from experienced folks will be much appreciated.😄

How do you invest your salary?

Backend Engineer

I've completed 1 year in my first job. I've tried saving and investing some money, help me decide what I can do better:

Income: 22LPA

PPF: 3 Lakh
EPF: 2 Lakh
MF: 5 Lakh
Saving Account: 4.5 Lakh

Income for new FY post increment: 29LPA

I did these savings based on some advice from my elder brother.

I'd like to spend more this year though, with some travel and going out more, maybe even purchase a scooty/bike and a PS5 😁 - would these expenses be justified?

Apart from improving my savings & investments and 
still being able to afford a few luxuries, I want to know if I should get any of these:

- Health Insurance - Only 5 Lakh cover from company for me and my parents (note - parents are getting old)
- Life Insurance - Do we really need it, I'm still 24?

Hi guys, 
I have around 4L cash lying around which I wanted to invest. Currently, I think I am in a position to take maximum risks, and see where things go. I also haven’t redeemed the 1.5L tax deduction on Section 80c so PPF and ELSS are open as an investment opportunity. 

I was worried to invest in the current equity markets. Have just put in around 6.5L into Equities in December (Split equally amongst Large, Mid, Small and Flexi Cap) 

Needed advice on which seems a better option:
- Put 1.5L in PPF and the rest in Large Cap MFs since Large Caps haven’t peaked yet
- Distribute the 4L over the next year (~33k/month) and invest it in a SIP to account for market changes
- Put the entire amount into equities (1.5L ELSS, 2.5L Large Caps)

Also, needed advice if it’s better to look for a Real Estate or SGBs Investment to diversify risk? (<25 yo right now so can take a property around 40-50L to test the waters)

What are your views on the current market? I’m planning to continue investing a significant chunk (~50% salary) into SIPs all through. Should I reconsider?

Our primary goals are education for our kid(+planning another 1), their marriage, 2x vacations a year(1 domestic+1 abroad), a decent lifestyle, and a good car(we have a SKODA Slavia right now, planning an SUV as we are extending our family).

I wanted to check up on the fact whether i am doing things correctly to save taxes or not and below is the details for the same.
Gross Salary - 3,30,000/Month
PF Contribution - 16,000/Month
Income Tax - 75,175/Month
Net pay - 2,38,000/Month

If i can save more taxes, how should i proceed furter assuming it's my first job and I've got little zero idea about anything around personal finances and taxes.

So I am a non finance person and quite illiterate, learnt how to do netbanking 2yrs ago.

Monthly income - 1.5 to Rs 1.7lakh 
After all expenses (living frugally) can save 25 to 30k per month (I have to take care of two houses and some debts, so this saving can't be increased)

Don't need to make real estate investment - have one self owned flat and one commercial property

I have a 5yr old son, need to save for his future as I have many health complications. 
Recently got 20lakhs from my mother as a gift, 10lakh in FD and 10 lakh cash.

Can anyone suggest an education or similar fund where I can park this money for my son?

Also, any SIP where I can invest the money I have remaining every month? So far, I have purchased some gold since I don't know any better and made a 5lakh FD for my son in the bank

MF/stocks: 1L
Sitting around: 4L (can't get myself to invest it, the market seems very overvalued. Will try to invest this in small chunks over a duration)
