Are PMs even revelant?
Do anyone else think PMs aren't very good at the things they are supposed to do. It is evident from failing products across industry. Any views??

999999t9h time a PM got offended to the fact that writing posts on linkedIn and grapevine is not enough and they have to create products that brings value and revenue.
PMs are anther word for cheap. They are quite useless and one of the most fraudulent professionals in India. Fraudulent and deluded.
An org would be better off purging these PM roles

From a different perspective I would say, there aren't many talented PMs in India who build great products.
Even with PMs if products are failing, what do you think happens if there isn't any role caring about the product, user at all?
Products can fail due to N number of reasons. PMs are supposed to increase the chances of success, anticipate the potential reasons for failure and have plans to mitigate these risks.
This can be achieved by following simple processes. Only thing required is self motivation and good org culture.

Agree on that. Without PM or any xyz role addressing these issues we can't expect a product to be successful. Good org is definitely important as that is what gives or takes away the influence a PM has on the product
If it means product manager yes. Role is relevant however very few are even good at it. Most pms think ui/ux is the only thing but they care very less how the whole machine works
Lol, why is the organization hiring such PMs then? Most Indian product companies are run like kirana stores.
Lalaji makes all the decision. There is no relevance of PM in such companies.
PM is used as a stick by Lalaji to get the tech team cattle to fall in line.
Because very few engineers put themselves in customers shoes. Engineers can become very good PM but most don’t want or don’t have that customers perspective
Why do you need a people manager, let’s say like an Engineering Manager? It’s for accountability of the team and deliverables.
It’s the same with PM. You need someone who’s accountable for the product’s goal.
If the PM isn’t being accountable or if the org is not empowering the role, it’s a local problem, and you desperately have to shift companies.
Let’s say company A wants to launch a product that will improve app’s user retention by 50% by end of the financial year. All ‘anti-PM’ geniuses please let how this goal will get materialised, evaluated, implemented, tracked and improved upon. Who will own this? Who will prioritise what is to be built? Who will decide the benchmark for performance and re-strategise in case of under performance?
