- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed on the Bangladesh situation by Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. There is no word yet if Mr Modi will meet Mrs Hasina. Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has also spoken to Mr Jaishankar.
- Sheikh Hasina, who fled her Dhaka residence shortly before it was overrun, has landed at the Hindon Air Force base in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, which is 30km from Delhi. Mrs Hasina was received by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
- In India, the Border Security Force is on high alert. India shares a 4,096 km border with Bangladesh, across which travel has been stopped; the Railways and Air India have cancelled trains and flights. Meghalaya has ordered a 12-hour night-time curfew from 6 pm within 200 metres inside Indian territory.
- Earlier today, after Mrs Hasina resigned, Army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman said the military will form an 'interim government' and urged protesters to stand down. He promised to protect life and property and fulfill demands.
- Chaos erupted this morning after protesters stormed Gonobhaban, the PM's Dhaka residence. 100 people were killed and over 1,000 injured in clashes between police and protesters. The protests began over a quota system for government jobs and escalated into a wider anti-government movement.

I have been having some crazy discussions on this platform about the current political scenario  of our country right now. 
And this post by Dr. Anand Ranganathan pretty much summaries everything I had to say.
There is no doubt that both the sides are using religion and caste heavily but this is not new to me. It has been happening for 75 years.

Both the parties have not shown much promise in the development of our country. Pretty much standard stuff.

But the deal breaker for me in case of religious or caste based promise is that one party (BJP) just says it to win votes and the other party (Congress) actually has decided to implement divisive laws.

My stance!

- Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan is running for chancellor of Oxford University while in prison, confirmed by his aide Zulfikar Bukhari.
- Khan is currently in Adiala Jail facing numerous legal challenges, mostly related to corruption, which his supporters claim are politically motivated.
- Despite being barred from the national election, Khan's party candidates won most seats independently but not enough to form a government.
- Khan, an Oxford alumnus, previously served as chancellor of the University of Bradford and led Pakistan to victory in the 1992 cricket World Cup.
- He is running against Elish Angiolini and Margaret Casely-Hayford, with voting expected on 28 October.

I am in shock that the Canadian PM, in the Canadian Parliament no less has alleged that India has eliminated a khalistani on Canadian soil. 
I still remember the days, when the single greatest attack on the soul of the country took place in Mumbai on 26/11, all we could do was establish backchannel diplomacy with the likes of the US to get Pakistan to 'calm down'. Not a single bullet was fired in return in a nation that perceived our weak national security as par for the course, getting the Congress led UPA that presided over this moment of unparalleled humiliation, a thumping verdict in 2009. That was an India where we would lament the lack of credible retaliation options including Covert Ops. It was often stated that IK Gujral rolled back R&AW operations outside the country as an excuse for our lack. Although, no action was taken to initiate the operations again. NONE. But excuses were ready should failures occur again.

That India of my childhood, seems like a distant past. When URI and Balakot happened, we crossed the LoC and launched Spl Ops to impose rising costs upon Pakistani aggression. Khalistani or old thoroughbred battle hardened Islamic Jihad commanders in Pakistan or PoK are being neutralized, further raising costs to threatening Indian interests. 

This is not the India I grew up in. 2004-14, when we ought to have taken off, came a pauper after the initial global liquidity fuelled growth from 04-07. Congress went on a far left loony socialistic binge, with massive amounts of debt given to Crony Industrialist friends leading to an NPA crisis which led to Private investment paralysis, plummeting growth further, and inflation hitting the skies. 

But now, we are poised for a decade or two of rapid, high quality, solid economic growth. All of these factors combine to bolster our Gross National Power like never before. 

We were supposed to be poor, timid and helpless. We pursued sympathy over strength. But I guess, this is no longer the India we knew of.
