Biggest PM screw ups you've seen

There is this new PM who is making my life living hell. Sets up his own timeline without consulting me how much effort it will take me to execute. The requirements are fuzzy and changes while executing. I am having to delete a ton of my code because they can't keep the requirements frozen. The problem is that, I am being pulled into meetings all day and I am having to code at night just to keep up with my tasks. My life has become work and I have no time for my self-care. Haven't gone home in 6 months now. I don't know what to do now. Save me. Please. I beg of you. What should I do?

I’ve been insufferable at work since 2-3 months now. Total time at my company- 6mo 21 days. Profile - Product Management My engineering team seems to be taking no ownership and always have their brahmastra ready that it didn’t come from product’s side. QA again is so great that I have to sit and thoroughly test each release end to end. My manager- he’s quite interested in taking my career fwd as a project manager. (I am not) He’s a total asshole and is quite concerned with start dates and end dates of tasks ( mind you, I am not the one actually writing the code but somehow the dates are my responsibility). He totally micromanages and somehow keeps blaming me for each small thing. Examples: - My engg team isn’t taking ownership: “you aren’t keeping them motivated enough” - This isn’t a last minute change : “Do you attend standups? You aren’t communicating well” - The QA tested and approved it, hence we released it. : “But did you test it? “ - Here are the release notes. : “This looks too jazzy, did you copy from GPT” - Here are the release notes. : “This looks too basic, did you not copy from GPT” I could go on forever. Gust: I am quite unhappy and is causing me unnecessary stress everyday. Also I don’t feel there’s a solution possible

I have recently joined a startup as an APM (My first PM role) and my manager is teaching me the bits and pieces of Product Management. The issue is, while he's helpful and experienced in this field, he sometimes talks to me in a very condescending way which kinda hurts me. I agree that I have a lot to learn and getting a job as an APM is a big thing, especially when you've been in a specialist role for all your life but I still don't get the point of patronizing your juniors. I'm trying to get better at writing documentation and specs but I get very disheartened after every spec review meeting I schedule with my manager. Any tips for handling this?

Was asked this question in a PM Interview at a unicorn Fintech based in Bangalore. I tried my best to answer but just trying to understand what PMs here would try to solve this?

It’s clear that companies won’t need engineers 10 years from now. They’ll just need people who know what to make. Who to sell to. How to sell to. At what price. This will be the great commoditization of Software development Take it or leave it.

As a PM I would say it is to delivery high quality product in less time. 🕰️
