Cars are a terrible way of transporting people, they take up a lot of space and slow down traffic movement. SF has the best and widest freeways but has the worst traffic. Being a middle income nation about to invest in infra, we have to make a choice if we want to go the American way? Or can we come up with an Indian solution.
After a decade of flyover construction, it might be too late. We will end up with even larger city with 4X the road length and much worse traffic.
I believe in the European approach of paid entry for cars in Central Business District to discourage car ridership and funding Public Transport.
