Eh if u can’t figure it out on ur own just ask her directly what steps u can take to make things easier for her. Basically if u are already correcting things which ticks her off and yet the behaviour continues then just openly talk.

So I'm an intern at this bootstrapped startup which is doing really good (touchwood). Three months into my joining, everything was hunky dory but lately my manager has turned less friendly.

She points out little mistakes, asked me to create reports on things that went wrong, uses aggressive language on common slack channels. I'm really not sure what I've done to **** her off. 

Yes I did make a couple of mistakes here and there but I put in my 100% effort to see them fixed and talk to her nicely and respectfully. I'm lost. I also think if this will hurt my PPO chances :( I want to know if this is okay and me working extra hard will solve this or should i do something else about this?

Hi everyone, 2023 IIT Grad here, working in ServiceNow since July 2023. 
Current Base: 15L
I have around 7-8 months of experience here and over a year of experience at Startup and Servicenow being a Software Engineering jntern, at startup, I was almost a full time, leading projects on my own. 

I recently had a 1:1 with one of my teammate, he is couple of years senior and has a base of 24L. He told me you have been working really good, so in this upcoming March, you can either ask for a promotion OR for a good hike. 
I have heard, in ServiceNow, promotion or hikes happen only once a year. 

Then I talked to someone with 7-8 yoe, he told me it won’t be good to talk about this when you have just joined that is, 7-8 months ago. He said take whatever they give you.

I need community’s views should I talk to my manager about this OR Should I let it go? My friends at other companies are making 20+. I didn’t sit for placements because of PPO. 

Please advise. Thank you!

I joined a new company 3.5 months back and my manager always finds flaws in my work. In case I did not reply to the email within 5 mins, he starts questioning my work interest and there are many such incidents. What should I do?

Every day I query the db 
It feels so much boring and I'm not interested too
I'm much interested in like web,gen ai or making any tools/ extensions rather than this querying or CSV's matching everyday


Should I approach my manager regarding this ? 
How to tell him that I don't like these types of task ? Will it affect my PPO or my future with org

Hey guys, I have been working in a startup company for 3 weeks. I am a fresher and I am forced to work on weekends and even during holidays like 2nd of Oct. My Team lead always tells me to come to the office during weekends and he says it's an order. I am working in sales and the reason they gave is that we have to work as festivals are coming.

How should I tell my team lead and manager that I  am exhausted and can't work like that. I am totally new to the Job life and don't have any clue how to move forward. Please help!

I recently transitioned from an intern to a FTE in a startup. I'm working on a SaaS product as an APM.

I have been taking up a lot of work, interacting with devs, QA, designers but neither do I feel that my manager notices what all I'm working on, nor does he seem satisfied by my work. (All my PRDs need to be refined 3-4 times 😢).

I'm afraid of negative reviews and more about the job itself. I rejected 2 of my campus offers, one of them being at an IB, to join this startup, but things don't seem to be going that great.

Workload is not an issue, I'm willing to take up more things, atleast as of now, but I feel that my manager doesn't let me pick more items as he feels that I'm not performing upto the mark writing the PRDs.

Could you guys please help me with it? I actually need some guidance around the same.

I want to understand if this is common for folks and is there a way to tackle it.

I have recently moved my career from Talent Acquisition to Product Management Internally in my organization. My New Manager has also very recently joined the team. I see him barely investing time in understanding the skillset I hold and whenever there's a time of taking some responsibilities he will give it to others. I have been doing some operational work for the past 1 month now, majorly with excel sheets and coordination. 

I want to start working as a Product Management Professional and not as an operational Guy !

Open to suggestions on how to take this up !

I'm feeling really stuck and frustrated at work lately. Despite putting in my best efforts and consistently performing well, it seems like my manager is feeling threatened by my progress. He’s been rejecting my ideas and work without even reviewing them, and calling me out in meetings for not completing non-priority tasks. The environment has become really toxic and it's taking a toll on me. Has anyone experienced something similar? How did you handle it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Feeling frustrated at work

So, my boss is an absolutely lovely person, and is the best boss I've had so far. Not to brag, but I'm also the best performer in my team, by a mile. So, while I do get my pats on the back, I'm also rewarded with more and more work. I love, atleast so far, what I do, so I didn't mind taking up more work, because I learnt a lot in the process too, and it helped my hone my craft better.

Cut to now, I'm losing interest in work. Don't feel like taking up any new work, no matter how exciting the brief, or how great its potential.

I feel like I'm burnt out. And majorly demotivated.

What makes it worse is seeing this other member in my team chill the absolute fk out. He's hardly even given any important projects because of what a waste resource he is.

I've also just been promoted. So, I'm not sure if I should share what's on my mind with my boss.

My mind says I shouldn't, but my heart says it should be fine.

What should I do about:
1. Telling or not telling my boss what I'm going through (because I'm scared if it'll come back to bite my later)
2. Me feeling extremely burnt out and demotivated.

No, please dont in my opinion. Are you not taking leave’s? Please take leaves. 
  
 It might be contradictory on what i said but when it comes to bosses, it better not to talk about burning out and demotivated etc. 
  
 If you still want to do, sound as positive as you can be.

Hi,
I recently went on a vacation and informed my manager (CEO) that I won’t be available for a week. He did not say anything but I could sense that he is not happy.
On my vacation, I get his text asking what’s the progress at work? I Informed him about my vacation but he asks me to work for 1-2 hours ON A VACATION (This is when they promised flexibile work policy) I politely decline to which he doesn’t say anything.
Now, when I’m back, he has started to micromanage and says my work is disappointing according to the standards? I could get that he must be unhappy because a few things didn’t go our way. But, his whole behaviour has changed and he has started acting hostile towards me. I try to ignore and carry on with my work but it gets on my nerves sometimes.
Do I continue silently or should I confront? If yes, then how?

feeling like I am literally in the worst phase of my life. Our company is taking ownership of an abroad project and those abroad folks are not supportive or even if they support us then they give little information so that we can't take ownership. so we freshers have to figure out everything, and now even after figuring out, my manager and higher management asks me anything with respect to the product(features, deployment, anything literally- it's a big & complex project) even though I am a fresher and don't even have the proper knowledge and then ask us to explain to them what we know, and it's literally frustrating to explain to every single guy every single time. Because the manager asks to prepare to explain to him and then to the higher manager and then whenever something is there they keep asking again and again to give a presentation or our ideas about it, but they don't even ask abroad folks when they are the one who is doing the work. I just feel like I can't keep up with this and I want to resign. How to say no to the manager for doing a particular work again and again or should I resign because I am feeling very low right now and still after 1 year it looks like I have wasted the time because I got to write code for maybe 5% and 90-95% feels like college presentation. Every time there's something and they ask the same thing 3-4 times, sometimes it would be give the x info or then y info and like this only  and because of that i can't do the real work or work on new features because the Indian manager and higher officials keep giving extra work which they should ask from US folks. What should I do please suggest

So I am a fresher who joined this decent company where they pay me a decent salary. I got allotted to a project in place of an Senior Swe.  It's been 2 months and I have been given tickets regarding features requests . The work is not easy at all. The team consists of 5 people where there are only 2 developers me and my manager. He is mostly busy so he just provides me an overview about the code base which is 30 years old . The languages are C, C++ and C#. I have been working on this feature request for the past 3 weeks and the pressure is immense. I am feeling so terrible that I am not able to deliver. I just don't like this feeling. I try and try and try but some things are just way above my expertise. I have always been good at coding but to contribute to a real world project is really tough. It's also quite frustrating as at every step you have to deal with multiple problems. My manager is a good guy overall but today he told me that I really need to amp up my game. And deliver. I just don't like to be mediocre but I am just stuck at this point. Am I overthinking? Or me feeling this way is normal. I just want suggestions from different people of this sub!!

Fresher in Tech got assigned to a Cybersecurity project in place of Senior SWE.

I graduated about 2 months back and have joined a startup(it's really big, can't call it a startup now)

Most of the people around me have an avg work ex of 5-6 years prior to joining and I am the only fresher in this division.

I am too afraid to make mistakes since I feel doing so would take opportunities away from me, given that you've more experienced people on the team as well.

To make the situation worse, I got scolded(not really, but the situation was too tense) by my manager a few days back.

I want to work and capitalise on more opportunities however I invariably make slight mistakes which I am afraid will cost me my growth here.

Any suggestions or views on this?

Today, I received a warning email from the HR stating my performance is slow and they are going to decide on my employment.

I have joined this company very recently, as SDE 2. They are expecting me to complete a 30 day task within 10 days. I got excited and took it. I have been working my ass off, beyond the clock to achieve it. Most of it was new to me, since i don't have professional experience on this particular stack. It took me 6 days to achieve stability and structure of the application. Literally I haven't been sleeping a bit.

Now after 10 days they just shared this email. I really wanted to let this out.

Feeling shitty about performance feedback

Performance appraisal is just a yearly reminder that the employment is at their mercy. Beyond that it's has no meaning full value.  
 As a rule of thumb, one must always crib and complain at their jobs. If it takes 30days , one must say 50 days. If they ask us to complete in 10 days we must cry in front of them and shown tham that we are suffering. That's the only way to survive. Have you seen any ceo come on TV and say "life is good we are going to make a ton of money" no they always say " tough times ahead, recession time" , "perform or perish".. all the usual BS. We should follow our leaders.

For the past two years, I have been working as a software engineer at a service-based company. In this type of organization, employees are often assigned to different projects over time.

Currently, my manager, who also serves as the team lead, has been engaging in excessive micromanagement. They seem to be nitpicking and closely scrutinizing nearly every aspect of my work, which I find to be a very frustrating and stifling experience.

This level of micromanagement has made me feel uncomfortable and hindered my ability to work effectively. I am now considering changing jobs, as I believe this working environment is not conducive to my professional growth and development.

Given the challenges I'm facing with my manager's approach, I am wondering if it would be a good decision to seek employment elsewhere. I am contemplating this move in order to find a work environment that is better aligned with my needs and allows me to thrive as a software engineer.

I recently joined this company as a data analyst and I came to know from my friend who was also interviewing for the same role that my manager wasn't happy with my pace and wanted some candidates with better knowledge of coding however I had informed them in my interview that I am a beginner and don't have enough experience. My teammate is very annoying😡
Whenever he is stuck with a problem, he just spends a very little time on it, and if he is not able to find a solution he gets me on the call and tries to get it solved through me and I kind of baby spoon him for the solution. This is a repeated practice and I am sick of it.
Sometimes I thought to confront him but then I kind of push myself back thinking how he might feel about it.

Please give me genuine suggestions on what should I do? Should I discuss this with my manager/lead? Or something else

PS: He is elder than me but we are on same designation.

Pissed with my teammate

My seniors from different departments gave me feedback on one of my reports I presented, not constructive feedback but ok as I at least  got to know what I am doing wrong. But the very next day they are also shaming and belittling on the same mistake. This is something that they do often. I like the work here but not the people anymore. How to best handle this situation?
