Crazy rents in Bengaluru
People in Bengaluru are ready to pay 75k for a 3bhk, 50k for a 2bhk in famous builder societies. Rents for apartments which were 35k before 2021 are demanding 55k onwards nowadays. Why are people tolerating this shit ? Why are people still opting to stay in so called societies? Gyms hardly 5 PC people use Swimming pools are used occasionally Sports facilities are also not very commonly used. Why are people paying such large premiums for amenities they don't really use ?

Peak bengaluru moment.
Peak bengaluru moment

But also because techbros don’t know how to negotiate
What's there to negotiate? If you try to, they say fuckoff bcoz there's always someone who doesn't realize the value of Money for a thing! They have money, they wanna spend🤐
This is crazy, oligopoly
Silicon valley prices also skyrocketed after the startup boom. Looks like it'll happen in blr, unless tech companies realise life's too short to be stuck in 4hr traffic in rains and move base.

One more option to consider if you are soo money conscious. Do you know a 1200sq ft home in kanakapura road/Banashankari/such old Bangalore area barely cost you 15k? 1200sq ft home can be easily 2bhk. If you opt for a society then also it might just be 20k,25k max I think.
Traffic can be a problem, but I circumvent it by changing my timings to 2PM-10:30 PM.
I barely face 45 mins commute 1 way to bellandur (18km)

And what about HSR folks? 1 bhk in a very sexy locality can be obtained at 17k. (Barely 2 month old update) this was at those beginning few rows of HSR, which looks posh af.

Mereko kya hai. I live in an Anna PG for <10k per month while I search for flats. That's the best strat for Mumbai and Bangalore.
First, while the rent for the gated societies have gone up, stand-alone apartments have also followed the trend proportionately.
Now, why people generally choose gated societies,
- No worries around power cuts as there is always a power backup.
- Water supply is continuous and doesn’t need your intervention.
- Safe and secure parking place.
- Nice green, clean & safe place to walk around 24x7
- Readymade community, if you have a family.
This doesn’t justify the exorbitant rents though.
I agree. And honestly brokers Charge 75k for 3bhk in standalone building which doesnt even have balcony to say so, in comparison to that, I'd much rather take high rise society flats any day!
And I met a friend in Bengaluru who is residing in a spacious 2 BHK, at a rent of mere 21k!!! Though he has this flat from pre-Covid times. The area too is pretty good. It was a gated society of 5-6 buildings, and just outside society there was a small town like market. Lucky guy… I think you can still find such cheaper flats around, as someone already said, it is all due to brokers and may be due to the desire to live in posh, prime locality.

Whats the name of the apartment and where is it ?
It is in RamaMurthy Nagar, 4th Cross Road. There is a Petrol Pump in 4th Cross Road, that gated society is in a road just after that Petrol Pump.

Supply - demand. Basic economics. It's a sellers market.

I stay in a rented 1900sqft 3BHK flat in JP Nagar in a great locality with my family and only pay 18k pm. You need to research more! SWE / Tech folks are desperate and since they share the rents with 3-4 other folks they're ready to pay anything which is sad and inflates the rents especially around Bellandur/Whitefield etc

The problem is everyone want big societies. I stay in decent society in a 2bhk 1250sqft house in varthur near to outer ring road and Whitefield paying 21800 rent including maintenance has lift, security, cleaners, parking for 2bikes and one car, power backup and a small gym......Stop searching for brands like prestige, sobha you will find good decent apartments for a decent rent
