Do PM interviews test more on your interview skills than on the job skills

I am a PM with 4 YOE and have been applying for PM and SPM roles. However, have been facing rejections and the reason they say is my problem solving in case studies was not structured as we'd like. Are there any experienced PM here who can help me with a few pointers on what the companies are looking at for such roles and if there are any resources that I can make use of to become better.

What are some intriguing problems/ puzzles you have been subjected to as part of the PM interview process. Format: Role –> Company –> Problem statement –> Outcome

I want to start preparing for targeting Senior product manager roles. My primary focus would be on B2B SAAS companies as currently I am working on B2B Saas product. 1) Can you please shed some light on how I should preparing for Interviews, Take home assignment, etc. 2) Also what resources I should use to get domain knowledge of Different industries in B2B SaaS. 3) What resources do you use to practice PM cases.

How frequent and important are behavioural questions in PM interviews? I kind of really struggle picking a story at that moment and identify the level of details to be shared. Eventually, I see myself rambling and losing the interviewer. Any experiences or inputs that can help. I’ve gone through resources online for prep but looking for more experiences that worked / didn’t work for people.

What questions are asked for a product mgmt interview? How can one become a PM without tech background? I have product strategy background. In interviews i am able to ace product sense / product strategy questions but when it comes to tech, unable to show the required tech acumen (due to lack of actual exposure to it). Should I just stay put in product / business strategy roles or move into product mgmt? Reasons for moving into PM - want career and monetary growth, build tech stuff and not just strategise stuff. Have 6 yrs experience (2 yrs pre MBA data analytics+ 2 yrs business strategy + 2 yrs product strategy).

What were some of the trickiest/toughest cases you've been asked in interviews and by which firm? I'm a 22 grad and wanted to get an idea regarding the spectrum of difficulty in interviews since most of mine have been pretty straightforward (guesstimate/ product design / metrics, etc)

Does anyone else feel like the PM interview process is easily scammable? I feel like 80% of it is a vibe check and 20% is the actual content itself. Am a PM with 3 YoE and have been interviewing around recently. I have 0 preparation for any interview I walk into and have gotten offers from multiple startups. (Not bragging, I'm a good talker) You need to just break down any questions into understandable parts and explain it well enough. Maybe it's imposter syndrome or maybe I'm a little disillusioned with my job. TC : 31 base 4 performance bonus 10 ESOPs

I think you only get better at interviews by preparing for interviews. It's a decent measure of IQ and work ethic. However, I have met PMs who kill it at interviews but are extremely incompetent at their jobs. I have also met great PMs who really suck at interviews. As the role evolves and AI takes over, is there a better way to evaluate PMs?

I have 2.5 yoe in total, 1.5 in product. Was looking for a switch since Jan '24. Finally, an interview has been scheduled next week. Now, I have no clue what they are gonna ask in interview. I can explain what have I done and all, but no clue about case studies or framework etc. Would be great if someone could share their interview preparation strategy for product roles.
