Do you Believe in Superstition

So it's basically about when something good happens to you, like getting a new job. Do you believe in telling your friends or relatives in advance, before joining? Or do you prefer to share the news on the joining day through LinkedIn or some posts?

The fear I have in my mind is that if I tell them in advance, I might not get the offer or something bad may happen. In the past, my 8 LPA job offer was revoked, and then I landed a 6.5 LPA job, but the package changed to 4 LPA. So I've decided not to tell anyone in advance about what's happening in my life.

Does it happens with you or I'm overthinking much πŸ€”

If you think I sound crazy then do let me know how to overcome

Then what do you say even to your colleagues or mates when they ask about your job

I feel the same way but not as a superstition but more like if something wrong happens, then I'll have to explain everything to protect myself. Why do all this hustle? Whenever I switch, I only let my close ones know, the ones who I can explain if something goes the other way.

You got me !! My offers revoked because of recession in UK ,US...but yeah I miss the joy of telling the people that yeah I made it.... This thing drags me idk why but ultimately I'm okay to switch that matters

Don’t tell anyone bro. Its been almost 2 yrs in tech industry. Only my parents know I’m a SWE at some company. Other than them, everyone knows that I’m preparing for some govt exams πŸ˜…πŸ˜….

Not superstitious, but god knows what's happening now a days , seen some guy posted that he joined Oracle 1 month back and recently laid off.

Can't imagine how bad it feels, if someone comments congratulations on that career update post, after being laid off.

None. 0. Infact i go out of my way to break those superstition for others as well cause i am an asshole. Alot of people are scared to say things out loud cause nazar lag jaaegi or god might get hurt. My sister got a job after rigorous struggle and post that i would always say to her "ab kuch bhi ho jaaye, duniya or duniya k bahar ki koi takat teri job nhe hata sakti" and that would make her lose her shit. Focus on science people, rise above.
