Your first priority should be to get a job - if you have a offer, better to accept and then keep on looking in parallel

Hi grapeviners,

I got laid off in November. Had no luck getting an offer since then untill now. Recently recieved and offer from this company x. Glassdoor reviews are shit. They could only match my salary. Work from office with strict timings 9.30am to 7pm. According to reviews CEO is a hitler v2. Worst part is they have 3 months notice period. Only seemingly intresting part about this company is its work. Again, not so sure about that. They’re intlo building AI, ML and IOT solutions for companies.

Should I join this company and look for jobs or should I keep the offer and try for another one?

Software Engineer

Recd a product manager offer. Notice period will be 3 months after probation period. That means I'll get stuck and have absolutely no chance to switch to other companies.
Context : Pays only 26 LPA fixed, 4 in var ; very lean team ; in Real Estate sector ; product will have limited number of users only.
Need the money, need PM role to keep continue in CV. But I clearly know this company is low balled me bcoz of employment gap of 6 months.

What to do? 1. Accept it for now and resign in probation period (NP will be 1 month) OR 2. Reject now itself?

Even if I accept now and keep looking, will I not question from prospective employer about such short stint?

Please folks, help me here... 🙏

market is so scary. 
Few questions:
1. a lot of companies are hiring through crewscale, etc. they are offering low salary as per the role. are companies paying low salary to them or they are taking a big cut? do people treat them differently once they join a company via crewscale?

2. I am not able to get my resume shortlist for mncs. 

what to do now? recently my friend got a call from razorpay gehy were offering for sde role 15 lakh for 2 years experienced. they were paying 22 lakh for sde 1 last year. the role is not product engg or solution ennggg that they recently introduced for low salary. it was sde role.

I am scared now.

My offer (from a FAANG company) has been deferred to January 2024. I don't know what to do now: 
 
1) I have another job offer (~8 LPA), but that job requires me to serve notice period of 2-3 months 
 
2) A startup's founder rejected me, saying he wanted someone for long term (he thought I'll leave next January)  
 
Should I try for full time jobs? Many companies become unwilling to take me in, presuming that I will leave in January 2024. 
 
Or should I look for internships (even though I have graduated)? Getting an internship won't help mitigate the risk of not having a fulltime job offer after graduation though.

Offer deferred, don't know what to do

I recently got offer from an early stage startup in banglore. They raised a total funding of $5.19M over 2 rounds.

My offer is 13 LPA + 1 lakh retention bonus
5k per month for commute and health insurance

I have past experience of 2 years working with 2 startups and building apps from scratch for them.

Honestly I'm really confused about this offer, it is for sure better than my previous offer but I'm not feeling satisfied.

Any suggestions guys?

My background: 2024 grad, intern at an startup in Bengaluru, internship extended for 3 months recession is the reason told, no chance of fte.

Now, getting an offer from a startup. Team of 15-16 people. Pre seed stage startup. Will be building product from scratch. Lots of learning. 
Offering decent hike and since i m part of first team...getting small equity too.

Should I join this offer?

I m confused. But also thinking...it is risky but a lot to learn and growth potential is v high.

I didn't get a hike and they even decreased the basic pay in their shared CTC Structure. The in-hand is the same as my previous company but my basic salary is impacted. I am currently working in a startup which pays 38lpa base and no stocks, no EPF. Plus point is complete work from home. So i accepted it. 
But then I am thinking if I was low balled, as I have 6 years experience including 2 other MAANG level companies i worked with (not exactly MAANG but nearby)
My previous compensation was 28 base and stocks of 7 lakh per year.
I didn't had any competing offer so accepted it.
I am planning to study DSA and system design to start applying again in one year.

What is a reasonable ask while negotiating with startups?

Should I ask for a match or hike of X% over my TC/annum (52lk Base + 8lk Bonus + Rs30lk RSUs), or should I negotiate only over the Cash (Base + Bonus) component?

A startup I’m negotiating with is not considering the RSUs I have and is offering a 8% hike only on the cash component, and is throwing in ESOPs (paper money) instead.

HR is is trying to lowball me into accepting an offer at my current compensation stating market conditions. I don’t have any other offers yet. What can be done here? 🥲

Salary Negotiation

Getting an offer of 30LPA as a SBA at GamesKraft. But the thing is, I just joined Swiggy like 7-8 months back. 

(I was just randomly interviewing tbh. Just to ensure my skills are still at par with the market in case something bad happens.)

But the salary hike is a good one. It will probably take me a good ~2 years (ATLEAST) to reach there if I stay at Swiggy. What should I do? My esops haven’t even vested yet. And I can always interview for a hike in case my salary progression gets stale later, right?

And the work here is good. I am getting to learn a lot, plus it’s wfh. And Gameskraft had the tax issues with the betting thing. IS IT WORTH IT? Am i being greedy? Do i make the jump? Or do I be patient?

I am 2023 passout. I got laid off from my previous organisation in March 2024. I have almost 9 months of work experience and am currently looking for a job.

It has almost been 6 months to my job hunt. Got interviews from google companies like Blinkit Coinbase Google Oracle Razorpay etc. But somehow or the other things went south and i have not landed any offer yet.

There is one early stage startup thats offering me 40-60k per month. Considering that my last withdrawn CTC was 15LPA(all fixed) should i take this offer? Since the market is really bad for freshers.

Seniors, please help me out here!!! Lmk if you need any other details about my work experience.

I am looking for an internship for a while now, I hardly get any interview as most of the companies are hiring for Experienced folks. Fortunately I got one, everything went well, assessment's feedback was very positive, interview went well but now they are offering 10k, Should I accept the offer ? Share your genuine opinion.

Company Offers 10k stipend- Should I accept?

The company I used to work for recently shut down and I just received my first offer from a sizeable unicorn. 

I am being massively low-balled (20% cut). And on top of it, it's an exploding offer. 

I have a couple of interviews lined up (they start after May 28th) but at the moment, this is the only offer I have. 

What should I do?

1. Hard negotiate? Leave the offer on the table if it doesn't work out. 

2. Soft negotiate. Get the offer. Interview with other companies and try to get a better offer before joining (feels wrong)

Things to consider:

- I have 10+ months runway
- Last cash comp was 24L at 2.5YOE

I'm leaning towards 1.

I'm being lowballed. What should I do?

Suffering from success. 24L base for <2.5 yoe was already high. And that’s the reason why u have so much runway. Good luck on whatever u decide.
