Use TRAI DND app to start reporting those calls. Number will start dropping gradually.

+1 - I have been ruthlessly complaining about unsolicited SMS / calls using TRAI DND app. Over time the spam calls have reduced a lot. Also, in random places where they ask you to share phone number don’t give your real number.

Yes, I too noticed that. I think it is happening since 2022 beginning. Looks like, earlier they used to ask real humans to call, and now they fired them and started automation there too. In some cases, upon picking up it first plays waiting tone and then connects to customer care, which is so frustrating. I think there is no solution (for iPhone), I just disconnect within 2 secs and then block the number.

My phone uses this ( https://www.hiya.com/products-smart-call ) by default. Check if your phone has something like this too. Auto blocks spam / fraud calls for me.

I have been using the same phone number for more than 15 years and I’m getting a minimum of 7-8 calls everyday from
financial services, charity, insurance etc. I’ve never made any loan inquiries. Also enabled DND from the day I remember. However, this keeps me bothering. Any hacks to get rid of these spammers? 

I have more than 800 numbers in my block list…. But still…

How to avoid credit card companies calling twice a day during working hours to sell a pre approved loan offer.
Have tried everything and it seems they never put my number to Dnd. Blocked their 10-15 numbers, still getting calls from other numbers. Is there any way to stop getting these calls.

Has anybody also observed that the number of spam calls for credit card, pre approved loans increased exponentially?

I wanted to figure out the root cause of this.

I remember one of my friends asking me to download ONE Score app to check my credit score, around 5-6 months ago and since then, on an average there are 4-5 calls daily. Not saying this definitely was the root cause but just a speculation.

Just wanted to know what others feel regarding this and any steps they took to mitigate this.

As much as we blame tele callers or sales people from XYZ companies for constantly calling us , Upon close observation I’ve started to notice that it’s not 100% their fault. It’s often the fault of the people who get the calls. They fill up forms either on purpose and by accident and then they don’t answer said calls either to inform the person on the other end that they are no longer interested. Instead they act all high and pricey thinking they’re better than the ones calling them. Some people just do it as a way to blow steam as I’ve noticed. They just want someone to abuse and who better than a poor tele caller. 

People should wake up and understand that when you fill a form with your details or give your information somewhere to have the courtesy to either :

1) Inform them it was a mistake or they’re no longer interested.
2) Schedule an alternate date and time. 
3) If they’re genuinely interested to actually listen to them rather than ask them to send it via mail as even their KRA’s of the include these dials or talk times. 

Nobody wakes up excited thinking they get to call 1000 uninterested people who might abuse them. It’s their job so treat them with the same dignity they treat you. 

No I am not talking about cold calling but about calls that you get after you fill out your information and know you would be getting a call regarding the same.

As you also may be quite irritated by all the spam calls you receive, what steps have you taken to free yourself from this abuse? 

I have a Pixel phone, it does a good enough job of screening these calls, however at a daily rate I receive 10 spam calls.

I applied for a standard charted credit card via a phone call agent. (sir you are eligible for a card call wale). I wanted a platinum LTF card but she said after submitting the details I am eligible for another card with fixed yearly charges of 350. She told me she would pay me 350 after I received the card. She called back-to-back during office hours. So I blocked her. In the last two days, she has called me from 7 different numbers, at least 20-25 times. Finally, I picked up her call, and she told me that she would have to pay 3000 rupees fine If I won't process my card. She will G-pay me 350.

What I have tried and it worked well for me:
 Get Android phone. 
 Get Truecaller. 
 Block all calls not in the phone book. 
 Do this for a month. All callers will find your number unresponsive and remove you from calling lists.  
  
 If you are expecting unknown calls like Swiggy/Zomato/Amazon, unblock momentarily till the delivery. 

Your number has been public. Your telecom sells it, bank sells it, Universities sell it, discoms sells it. Your number is sold as soon as you buy a new SIM from a telecom. If there's a buyer, even you wud sell your number for a good price. Weird world. 

Even TRAI is useless and doesn't execute fines plus the onus is on you to complain and report via a stupid needless form for every spam. 

In India, Truecaller is a 99% good solution.I  know some friends in sales & call centers who mentioned they don't wanna waste effort & time with non-converting leads. So they update their calling lists & non-responsive numbers are filtered out. So every 6mo, I block all unknown numbers and monitor my spams. Worked well.
