What games do you play? And what platform do you play on? I work in an esports gaming platform hence curious.
India is a mobile first country and hence you see Krafton/Garena/Riot pushing mobile games in this region, Valo mobile being the next most awaited title.
While I agree with you that the culture isn’t rich enough, it’s what we have due to our socioeconomic conditions. Free Fire is the most popular title in tier 2 and tier 3 cities because those guys can’t afford devices on which PUBG runs even at a 4/10 rate.
Esports is very nascent in india and it’ll take a while for console and PC gaming to even rise up. It also doesn’t help that Forsaken fucked us as a region with regards to CS, which was another big setback around the time when gaming could’ve grown even more exponentially (like mobile gaming grew) during the lockdown.
All in all I agree with you, but we have to look at the country we live in and what the masses can afford. All we can do is work towards building a strong esports and gaming culture.

Supergaming makes good Android games. Maskgun has over 50m downloads and a few of their other games have 1m+ downloads. They are launching Indus battle royale this year which looks promising
For PC, Gameeon studios is making mumbai gullies which will release sometime next year. It's the teams first major FPS game though so let's hope for the best
