I recently joined an early age startup but that place was nothing what they told it’d be. So I decided to quit in 2 weeks. 

I now have an offer from a listed organisation and I am joining on Thursday. However, I haven’t told them about the last 15 days I spent at this startup and have submitted relieving of the last 2 orgs I worked with for 2 yrs each. 

Can there be a problem later?

I recently left a job because of toxic workplace. I survived seven years (yes, 7 years) there and it was toxic af. The team is full of under qualified mediocres who are ready to lick my boss' feet 24*7 (even till personal level)...I had enough of it and decided to quit. 

Even during my notice period there was a lot of drama and false allegations that I did not give any handover to the team. I escalated it and looped in my HR with all evidences.

Now since I have left, they hired two more people as my replacement but still badly stuck (which they deserve).

My relieving letter is stuck because my boss refused to sign my no-dues because of her ego.

I work for a fairly popular and large Indian startup and I'm at a considerably senior position. As seen recently also with a lot of startups, my company is creating hurdles in my exit. I've resigned from the company but the company has a policy that allows them to accept or reject resignations at will. They are not accepting my resignation and are threatening me with frivolous law suits. I'm scared and not sure about how true their threats are. 

Can someone please give references of good lawyers experienced in HR practices, service and employment cases etc.? Will be grateful.

It's gonna be long thread. 

I have been working as lead engineer in a early stage startup since last one year. 

Founder (20 years exp in Product Management) raised some money from friends & family to start it and but company was running negative from February and he put his money to pay employees salary for March & April and We were hoping for some investment in April but that didn't happen. 

During May & June, he was looking for funding more aggressively and even after having a good background in academics & top tech work experience in product management, no investor got convinced to invest in it. 

Our salary for March & April was delayed from actual payroll date by 7 days and 21 days respectively and We were expecting our May salary to be delayed by same period and our company was about to complete one year in first week of July so we had some one year benefits associated as well. 

But Boom, he invited everyone on call and tells that company will shutting it's operation from next day itself. And he will help us find our new jobs and he doesn't any clarity on pending salary. 

Although we knew, our company is not in good shape so salary cut or something might be happening soon but didn't expect this. 

Now, we have to find other jobs and also be unemployed while searching for job and also get exploited by other companies because we will be desperate to find jobs to pay our bills. 

I think, he did this just before 5-6 days of our one year anniversary just because he doesn't get legally bound to pay our one year benefits. 

I for sure, not gonna join any early stage in future who doesn't have enough funding. 

Just wanted to put this story out of my mind. Open for any suggestions you have for me

I am currently doing an SDE Internship in one of the startups in gurugram. Initially I was given a 6 month intern + full time offer, all went well, but in the last month this company is revoking full time offers of some interns  and extending the intern offer to 3-4 months. What should I do in this case ? I am literally scared right now?

One of my friends, who is highly talented and an adept competitive programmer, recently received an offer from "Tech Mahindra" with a package of 3.25 LPA and a 2.5-year service bond. Given the current tough economic climate, should he accept this offer or wait and prepare for better opportunities? Additionally, if anyone can refer him to opportunities in their current company, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help and insights!

Hi all i hve joined a blooming startup pre covid and got hired as a devloper and they put me into sales first to understand their product as a pre training. 

Nearly 1 yr i was still at sales and got to know i have been scammed i absconded. Now the hr are playing around not letting me have my service letter even i asked them to pay my notice period price yet they are taking it personal. ANY SUGGESTIONS!!!

How can i leagaly get serving letter if i have absconded.

I'm a 2021 graduate from a tier 3 college. I was working at a small startup based in Bengaluru that is into SAAS. The headcount is less than 20 and a completely remote job.

I don't have any notice period. I was told that I can leave the company whenever I want without any prior notice. And it's not mentioned anywhere in the contract. I had a promotion due in September 2022 in which the new agreement was supposed to be implemented where I had to serve a 90 day notice period and salary hike of 15% of my current CTC.

But the promotion was put on hold till now. I asked them multiple times but I was told that it's on hold indefinitely due to "shortage of funds".

On December 31st I sent a resignation letter as it will be my last working day. Even though it was a very short notice, I completed all the documentation about the things I worked on. Anyone who can understand English can deploy the entire product. And moreover everyone had worked on the product and almost everyone had a good understanding of the product. 

Sometime in 2021, I received a bonus of 62k which was sent to my personal bank account (the company itself didn't have a corporate account back then). Since the company didn't provide me any work laptop, I was told casually that I can use the bonus to purchase a new laptop or keep it to myself.

I made a mistake of now waiting to get the December month salary before resigning. Now he's telling me that the bonus he sent is for the company laptop and it will be adjusted as my December month salary. When I asked about the purpose of the bonus was not to get the company laptop but to keep it myself, he's refusing to accept it. (Almost everyone in the company uses their personal laptop).

And coincidentally there was a service outage as the company uses free services wherever available (for example, oracle cloud free tier, free version of slack, GitHub and lot more). Continued in comments....

TL;DR: I joined a startup as a frontend intern, took on many responsibilities, but was continuously delayed on payment. After months of empty promises and low salary offers, I decided to leave. The CTO suggested if I quit, I wouldn't be a priority for getting my unpaid dues but I’d "learn a lot" if I stayed. I eventually resigned after one last month, but they delayed my salary again, and after calling them out, I was removed from company systems. A fellow developer faced similar issues and was threatened with legal action.

In December 2023, I joined a startup as a frontend developer intern. The core team had only three people. Even though I was an intern, I was their first frontend hire and took full control of their Next.js frontend. I also managed their Azure infrastructure, built an Android app with Expo React Native, handled deployments on virtual machines, and did some backend work.

The agreement was that I would be paid $12 per hour, but I was receiving monthly invoices, and payments were delayed by months. After four months, in April, I asked the founder about my pay, and he said they had a seed but were facing issues with converting it. He promised my dues would be cleared soon. Two more months passed, and I got the same reasons, plus delays due to the elections.

By mid-July, things took a turn for the worse. They admitted they don't have the money and couldn’t clear my dues for an unknown period of time. Instead, they offered me a full-time job with a salary of only $400 a month, which was way too low. At the end of July, I told them I wanted to leave. The CTO then said that if I left, I wouldn’t be on their priority list for getting my unpaid dues, but I’d "learn a lot" if I stayed. That was a big red flag for me.

Since I needed money, I decided to stay for another month to get that month's salary and then resign. I still wasn’t officially made full-time because they hadn’t finalized the paperwork, and my full-time role was supposed to start in September. After working for another month, I informed them that I would resign at the end of it.

When it came time to handover/knowledge transfer, I told them I wouldn’t start until I received my salary. The founder and CTO said it would take 30-45 days because of the full-and-final (FnF) process, even though I wasn’t a full-time employee—just a contractor—and the team only had three people. This was the breaking point for me. I confronted them, pointing out that they expected my work on time, but my pay was always delayed.

For that disagreement, they kicked me out of the company’s GitHub and Azure within hours. I then ranted about their dishonest behavior in the general Slack channel, left the workspace, and blocked the core team members.

Later, I stayed in touch with a backend developer friend who was also struggling. He hadn’t been paid that month's salary, despite it being well into September. He decided to pause his work and resign. The founder threatened him with legal action for "fraud" if he didn’t finish the handover. My friend knew it was an empty threat, so he found contract loopholes, replied to the founder, and was ghosted—no salary, no response.

Now it was my foolery too that I trusted someone's sweet words for so long and did unpaid work for so long. I shouldn't have trusted people blindly. And I have had my lesson, learnt a lot in tech

And I really wanted to share this, get different opinions and suggestions that can I do something about it. Like I cannot do something legally on them right now and I do want to name and shame them but there is a signed contract, and I guess I don't want legal trouble right now because I am too exhausted from all this

I'm seeing so many posts where startup employees are cribbing about things like layoffs, work culture etc etc. Doesn't seem like they have perspective on everything it takes to build a startup. I've built a failed startup myself and have immense respect for founders who are grinding it out there in such difficult recessionary circumstances. 

And then you have so many of the engineers and PMs cribbing about basics without talking about important things like learning growth, building for the future etc. Why such myopia? I work at a big tech and envy the speed at which startups move, the big responsibility everyone gets to handle, the fast career growth. All these things are being cribbed about. They crib about founders wanting more. Their job is to ensure success, not to give lifetime jobs to entitled people. They have more headaches you can imagine. In my small startup I had a million headaches. I can only imagine how hard it must be to run larger ships. Is everyone joining a startup these days looking for a get rich quick scheme?

The CEO was very positive and supportive towards work but now all of a sudden he's become like hell hectic giving lot of pressure and he thinks he can compete with the big giants of IT world even without investment and adding funds  
He's an foreign return. 
Today I had a very bad argument with him stating all the pressure I had but he just said that sort of pressure means the company is really going somewhere. 
Now I'm In a state where I can't move also 
Nor I wanna stay listening to this idiot inspite of doing my best. 
So give me suggestions what should I do to overcome this.

My senior  just got fired for questioning  his low appraisal from company.The guy literally build all the backend ,infrastructure and all. From which they are making money.
Management  said _ we don't have work for you here.And then when he said ok fine iam quitting  they didint even give him 2 months notice period. 
He was asked to leave that day only.

The Management is not even giving him 4 yr experience  letter . Telling  he didint serve notice period. 

His stack are angular, php,llm models.

Huh! So i resigned from my job without any job offer. I am not sure if this is right/wrong, dumb decision maybe but i was at my saturation point. I joined this organisation as APM in April 2024 and resigned in September end, almost a 6 months of journey. This was a fast faced startup with a lot of micromanagement and toxicity. My manager was an asshole. There was a time when i was filling time sheets which was just to justify my manager. Imagine a product manager filling time sheet who is already involved in multiple small and large discussion with tech,qa, marketing, operations etc. The shift was of 9 hours and he asks me to stretch to 10 hrs sometimes as he as a bad habbit of same. There is much more. One day due to an instance i decided to resign without any job offer. My family did supported me which also gave me the confidence to do so. I don’t know what to say to next companies. When will I get a new job. Just wanted to share this somewhere and thought of putting it up here. Open for all your thoughts and comments. Also,Let me know if anybody could help me in any referrals😅preferably in Delhi ncr- Hybrid/wfh.

Hii, I'm a front-end developer having around 3 years of work experience. I got laid-off in 2023 just after 1.8years in an organisation. Then I joined another company and got laid off in 6 months. Now I have an offer from early stage startup but I'm too scared to accept it because of my experience. But on the other hand I don't have any offer as well. Will it look bad on my resume. I don't know... I've started thinking that something is wrong with me otherwise what is the chances of getting laid off twice within same year. 
First I loose my peace of mind because of work pressure and then I loose my work... pretty f**cked up situation.
I have never been this unde confident. 
What do you think shall I take the offer from startup again or wait few more months or more to get into good mnc??
