HR ask for pan details before interview scheduled

Hey everyone, I am actively looking for job with 6 yrs of experience in HR domain. I have been getting few calls from recruiters asking for pan card number with other details. Is it really necessary to share pan number even before the 1st round of interview??

Recently I had got a call from a recruitment firm regarding an opening in EXL, where they stated without sharing the pancard details they can't start the interview process. They would share a consent form for the same. I declined from sharing the pan card details. They said the process has changed and they require to check the employment details of the candidate. Another company has also mentioned they would require the pancard and aadhar details after the second round. Has anyone also faced something like this. Is it even legal to ask for these at such an early stage of the process.

Got a call from an HR of an edtech firm and they asked for PAN Card number on the first call itself. Said it was company policy as otherwise people apply from multiple IDs. Is it normal to ask PAN/Aadhar number without so much as a first round of interview as well?

Has any recruiter asked you to share PAN number before even scheduling interviews? I recently got a call from Physics Wallah recruiter and after exchanging common information she demanded PAN number to which at first I refused then told her I’ll share over email. I said that so that I could check if she is not a scammer. I also asked her why it is necessary? To which she provided generic BS(to put into portal, big companies also ask this). Verified from truecaller and linkedin that she is indeed genuine. But anyways I didn’t feel comfortable to share a sensitive government ID before even having interviews. I told her my reasons and she rudely said they won’t be able to proceed further and I said no problem! Request everyone to refrain from these practices otherwise this will become a norm. You don’t know in whose hand your ID will go and how and where they will store this info. Cut the BS and just say no.

Hello, Being open in th market caurrently and finding job since quite a while (unemployed since last 3 Months). I came across a companies job post, on the job portal where they were asking. PAN card and ADHAR card details. Why is it required ? nowadays job portals feel more of getting data and selling it rather than getting a Job. if you have openings in your company could you consider refering me. 4 Years working as a Product Specalist and seeking opportunities in Product Managment.

Hey Everyone I am posting this to get a clarity on flipkart careers web app https://www.flipkartcareers.com/candidate/personal-information. I was referred by someone for a job at Flipkart but the application is asking for too much info like Aadhaar card, PAN card, UAN card and more. I have just been referred and no interview has been scheduled yet. Wanted to know if its required to provide all this info to proceed further?

I was going to join a company in gurgaon. Had 2 rounds of interviews with them and 1 psychrometric test. Both interviews & the test happened on wednesday. On thursday i got email from HR asking details like Aadhar, PAN card and salary slips etc. At First I called the HR to share any offer letter or salary details (neither we negotiated), but she said it will all be after i share the details. Taking it as a win, i shared all of the details. Now on Friday evening i got an email from HR that they cant move further with my candidature. I called the HR to find out, she said it is because i failed the psychrometric test. WTF ? Now i am genuinely concerned if this was scam?

Third party recruiters or vendors get our profiles in Naukri or other platforms, and they ll ask for all our personal Details also PAN Card. Those recruiters or not having official Email ID, few are from Gmail ID. Is it good to share PAN Details to them?
