I tried, joined a company as PLG person and asked the manager if I can work on product management too. Later I started looking for a job in management. 
  
 In my POV, sticking to Growth these days (recession) would be better as I was not getting any good offers in Product management (the CTC was low as compared to my current salary; and they were hiring me for APM and not as PM even when I had 3+ years of experience in PLG)  
  
 Same company was okay to hire me as Growth Manager.

Wanted to understand if people have lived from Growth Marketing to product management roles? And if so, how did you guys move?

I have 7 yrs of experience in product management . It’s in electrical product segment . I know from a fundamental product life cycle standpoint job expecations are same but I do not have any knowledge on software tech or tools . I have a previous experience of working as a Demand Analyst (gauging demand of products through data analysis and market research), 4 years of experience in starting my own business (non-tech) which didn't work, and over a year of experience in my current job (learnt PM skills like wireframing, and user research). Current organization has no Product team.

I've been trying to get an APM role for a while now but to no success as most want Product experience or an Engineering degree. Would it be advisable to keep at it for an APM role or get a business analyst job and look to become a PM later? Do companies hire for PMs without a solid Product background and an engineering degree?

Hey folks,
I'm wondering what kinda role I should pursue next after product management. 
I'm done with this role, works vary from company to company and team to team. It's tough to make people understand the difference between pre-PMF products & mature products, and how the metrics impact vary across the spectrum. 
And this completely changes the equation of your appraisal or your promotion as well. 
I don't see myself working in the same kind of role after 5 years.
So I'm wondering what kinda role I should look out for?
My general interests are more analytics & strategy centric. What do you guys think??
