Has anyone moved from finance(banking, trade forex etc) to product management ?

I am a Finance guy with around three years of experience but thinking to move to Product roles in fintech or a products that has anything to do with transactions. Where do I start?

A friend of mine is looking to move into product management/Founder’s office roles. He has around 6 years of work experience in operations management but had to leave the job because of personal reasons and after that break he picked up Sales Lead job. The job doesn’t pay much and he isn’t enjoying either. He is not able to find good operations and supply chain roles in India either. Do you have any advice on how he can make a transition into such roles? Any good courses that will help with placement also?

I am looking forward to making a career in product management and would like to know how can someone with no product experience make this transition and land a job? Hey there! So, I have a friend who's currently an Associate Project Manager at an MNC. He's been doing the technical thing for 1.10 years and recently moved into the APM role. (YOE:2.5ish) The thing is, while the pay and work-life balance are good, he's not feeling all that jazzed about his work and wants to level up his career. He's got his sights set on a Consultant/Product Manager gig and wants our help to make it happen! Here are a few questions we have, and we'd love to hear your thoughts: 1.Would it be worth it for him to go for an MBA, particularly at ISB, to snag that Consultant/Product Manager role? 2.Are there other ways he could make the transition without having to go back to school? 3.How do Project Manager salaries and work stack up against those of Product Managers? Any insights or tips you could share would be much appreciated. Let's help this dude rock his career!

Anyone here switched from marketing to product? If so, how ow what steps are required? Also, is switch possible at senior Manager levels?

Has anyone here, moved away from Software Development to something else. Maybe in a completely different direction, like became a graphics designer, or Game developer etc. or in a similar direction, like went towards Product Management or something similar. If yes, then I want to know your experience with the switch, and the steps you took to make it happen. I got into Software engineering 2-3 years ago (attracted by the salaries) but now I just don’t feel like doing it anymore at all. I asked a friend who’s a PM, and his take on this was, if i wanted to keep earning how much I currently do (20-30 LPA), and want to go even further than that, then SDE is the only option, PMs do not get paid that much amount, when compared to SDEs in the longer run. What’s your take on this?

Hi All, I want to change my profile from data analyst to product manager. What should be the necessary courses to do this?

I have 7 yrs of experience in product management . It’s in electrical product segment . I know from a fundamental product life cycle standpoint job expecations are same but I do not have any knowledge on software tech or tools . I am an MBA in Marketing and currently working as a Market Researcher. I want to switch to Product Management. Suggest a good online course which is not too heavy on my pockets or if I should I consider something else? I’m looking to pivot from MR as the pay I’m getting is peanuts here, extra long working hours without any compensation and too slow of growth, monetarily. Help a brother out. TIA.
