Few weeks watched a reel from a famous influencer about this app where he shared the benefits one can gain from it and i did download the app and tried to open it and yet the app didn’t open even after my multiple tries so I uninstalled the app. 

Today, i did try to install it once again as i had to do my mobile phone recharge. 
I added the money to the wallet (3k) and then went on to do the recharge.
My recharge wasn’t successful and yet the money got deducted from the wallet. 
I have lost my 3k.

I did complain about it and still there is no response from their end. 
I even tried to call the helpline number and yet no response. 

Can anyone help me what to do now in such cases?
Can i get my hard earned money back?

Please share your knowledge and help me with it.

I have lately realised that many people have fallen for this scam and have lost their money. 

I don’t know how come PlayStore still allow such apps to run such scams.

Recharge Land - Fraud App

My mother called me yesterday and tells me she got scammed for about 10 lakhs and needs money by Monday. She has 4 lakhs and I will have to cover the rest. Turns out she let a friend take a loan in her name and this friend gave fake jewellery as collateral. The friend took loans under her husband’s name and my mom’s name, she divorced the dude and escaped. The bank called my mom and has asked her to pay, now they’re filing a case against my mom for fraud.

I’ve spent my weekend talking to advocates and friends, and looks like the only way to get out of it unscathed is to cut a deal with the bank saying we’ll pay the money back and they don’t press charges in return. Contesting the bank is going to take time, money and the risk of my mom losing her job.

As an older daughter who grew up in a broken family, I’ve spent my childhood and adulthood protecting my mother and sibling. I finally landed a well paying job 2 years ago and now the responsibility extended to providing for my younger sister and my mother financially which I’m more than happy to do. I’ve worked hard the past few months to save what I have right now beyond what I give my family, use to sustain myself and finally felt happy about the position I’m in.

Now I’m heartbroken. I’m going to be emptying almost 70% of what I have so far for this for paying the bank and the lawyer. Especially for something that’s not even my mistake and something that could have been easily avoided. I’m not in a place to direct my anger at her, I know it’s a hard time for her as well. 


6 to 7 lakhs might sound like a small amount to some but I don’t have the privilege to throw money like that. I don’t have fuck you money. I don’t take money from friends. I’m 25 and literally just started my life 2 years ago after working for peanuts. 

What’s even the point of working hard, leading an honest life if this is how it works? It’s just truly unfair and I don’t know how to deal with it.

 My father too was frauded by a builder whom we had entrusted building flats on our plot of land. Fcker took booking amount from multiple people and left construction, claimants now coming after us saying its our responsibility to refund even though my father didnot recive any amount. 
 I had to take 18 lakhs loan for my father to complete construction and am all the time calling advocates in assesing risk from claimants who come barging at our home and building site with threats of filling FIR. 
 Every month my one third salary goes in Loan amount, had got a ideal wlb good paying job 2 years back after battling unemployment and low pay for many years. 
 Had planned to take wife and kids on vactaions for making up for lost time but now struggling to fulfill basic needs for family, forgot about vacations. 
 Have taken risk and moonlighting but it becomes hell on days when there is clash between jobs and sometimes lash out on my kids and wife and parents and then get hit by double guilt of not being strong enough.  
 Dont have any backing to face cheat builder who has backing of police and politicians, claimants coming after us as they have recognized us as soft target. 
 Preparing for 10 lakhs more expenses in multi year litigation trying to probe my fathers innocence. 
 Fcking jealous relatives enjoying all this from distance. 
 Fck this world.

Okay, so this happened to me last year. I was approached by a college alumni (got my number from college alumni group) who told me he had a side business going on which was leading him to earn more money than his corporate job and that he was going to leave the corporate for his “business”.

I was initially not interested but he was insistent and also I was looking to explore some options (may be my naïveté) that I asked him more and so he setup a call with his senior to explain more about this “business”.

Now this senior gave all sorts of gyaan regarding how to reach financial independence and picking up on the general mindset of how to make more money. They asked to create a list of 10 things that I desired the most at the point of time which could be solved with more money. I complied thinking it was a good exercise (again, I was a big fool). Now I was connected with another senior who gave all sorts of gyaan regarding how I could make more money and lead to financial independence.

Please note, during all this time I was constantly asking what the business idea was and how it would be achieved but got no response on the details and only white washing regarding how I should be prepared to do anything to achieve my dreams.

Now, it was revealed that I would need to put in 5L as investment to get bigger returns. Since I did not have that money in handy, I was suggested to get a personal loan through their agents. Also not to inform this to parents because they won’t understand this stuff and get “worried”. Luckily I did went with their suggestion and informed my parent about it. Thinking it was a startup idea, I got the investment from my father through an OD in my name.

Now we get onto a call two days later, where they reveal the company QNet and makes me purchase 5L of stuff from their website and explained the business model which was to get other people from your knowing to buy products from this company and get commissions on the sale.

Bruh... what even?! It's a well known scam. I don't understand how you were ready to put in 5L of your money without going for a simple google search.  
  
 All these IIT/NIT/IIM/AIIMS means they cracked a certain exam. It has nothing to do with guaranteed moral values or even basic common sense. Lesson learnt the hard way I guess.

Is there a way to get your money back as I have heard that there is a way where you report it online and get a refund. Is this true? Does cyber crime or NPCI really refund the money back?

Recently I have been mugged by the hero vired of my hard earned INR 12k. I enrolled in one of their courses some time back paying a registration fee of 12k. As I was not super interested at the beginning, sales guys started pursuing me very hard by giving discounts/scholarships (for already overpriced courses). 

When I was still not getting convinced, they offered the program director and alumni connect to help me make the decision but only if I pay the registration fee which they made refundable (which was on paper non-refundable)

This is an INSEAD course and the conversation was done on a recorded line so I didn't take it as a red flag, only to find out later that they have blatantly refused to refund the money. They even refused that the fee was refundable and said that there was no phone call even after I showed the proofs of the call.

I had a month long discussion with them where they conducted a completely bullshit audit and their senior management (including CEO) also didn't respond on escalation. 

Recently, I was informed by the INSEAD panel that they have changed the management in Hero Vired and asked me to join now as I won't get a bad experience again. While I refused to join them, I thought I'll let the community know of the deep rooted culture of disservice at Hero Vired and warn you against joining their cohorts.

Don't get into their FOMO sales pitches and sweet promises, they won't comply with you as soon as you pay them.

My Experience: Beware of PM scams

Last 2 weeks have been rife with such news.

What is your takeaway from Indian Startups being exposed for their malpractices?

I was laid off last year, the CTC was reasonably high there (110k USD base, not practical in India ik... Maybe that's why they had to cut us off). That of course was quite a down time but I was happy that I had a lot of side projects in hand, and was up to date with the tech stack. It's something I learned, "A company is a company, nothing less or more than that.

Curious to know, what are your lessons from these times? That one thing you wish you told/reminded yourself before these lay offs?

To me, it would be:

1. Stay humble. Your salary or your company shouldn't define your attitude.
2. Keep learning. Find time for your personal growth.
3. Stay active in the community, be aware of what's happening. Be it good or bad, it can come to you as well.
4. Save while you can! Savings have helped me a lot.

P.S: I mentioned my base pay from prev salary not to boast about it, there is nothing to boast about tbh
... It's just to mention more context.

What’s the worst that has happened with u or someone u know once u start slacking off/change attitude?

So, there's this story I've got about two of my old classmates, let's call them K and M. 

They grew up in single-parent households but had quite different experiences.

First up, we've got M. Their dad passed away back when they were in pre-school. Mom was a school teacher, and somehow, she managed to make it all work. She even scraped together enough to put M through college, and now M's got a decent gig and takes care of mom.

Now, K's story is a bit different. Their dad passed away during K's 10th-grade year. Mom was more of a stay-at-home type and not really savvy about money matters. After their dad's passing, some sneaky uncles swooped in and basically took the family's house from them. So, they had to move back in with mom's side of the family. K had to finance their college education with loans and is now locked in a legal tussle with those shady relatives to get their dad's house back.

Looking back, it's pretty clear that if K's mom had been more financially savvy, she might've avoided that scam or found a job to make things easier. 

This story really highlights how different life can be, depending on financial knowledge.

In the end, it's a reminder that partner having some financial sense can make a world of difference. It's not about insurance payouts; it's about knowing how to protect yourself and your family, even when life throws you some unexpected surprises.

Last Friday I went on a date with a girl from Gurgaon and it was the biggest mistake of my life. I was apprehended by her brother's friend at Ambience Mall. How? We were having a milkshake from Keventer's where some guy randomly pops out and starts enquiring about what we were doing.

The thing escalated and he said he will call police. I got scared. Then he motioned for someone, and that guy started misbehaving with us as well. It was becoming very stressful and I asked , "Tum chahte kya ho?" He was like, "Mhaare doston ko bhi thoda Milkshake Wilkshake pilao bhai." (Get milkshakes from KLeventers for our friends too). I was like, "Huh?" He demanded cash and said that he will get it himself. I gave them all cash I was carrying, some 2500 rupees and ran away. I think the girl was in on it too.

What should I have done?

Regret going on a date with a Haryanvi girl 👫🏻 ...

I don't think you could have done anything different. 
  
 But consider this as a narrow escape and from the next time please be extra careful when going on a date.
