Help me choose a city to settle

I know it’s a very common question, and impossible to know or answer. But curious how you folks here rationalize the meaning of life. Add your age if that’s okay, for good measure For me: I’m 27, my life’s purpose (or so I think) is to build something that helps a whole lot of people have a better life. And it is to make the people around me - family, friends, strangers happier (the scale of which depends on how successfully I pull this off). Whats yours? Would love to engage on this :)

If so, why? (I am doing so because going back home and living with parents sounds a bit depressing.)

I’m from Tier 3 city, software engineer, 7 YoE. I work with great team member and they really love their work but I’m not that passionate. I take ownership of my work but don’t feel like I belong here. I’m not good in coding and SDET by profession. I didn’t save enough money in my first 3 years of career, switched back to back from 2020 onwards and recently moved out of India and now I think I have enough money. I always wanted to settle in my native place, Prayagraj in UP unlike my colleagues and most of my friends who enjoy to be in metro city. I somehow feel I have very less needs and if I shift to Tier 3 city, I’d have less expenses and I don’t have to buy houses as I already have home. At the same time, I feel may be I feel FOMO 5-10 years down the line I left good job, lifestyle. Additionally, I’m looking to get married, none of IT sector girls want to live in Tier 3 and rightly so as they put so much effort so they want to live/settle in metros mostly. 8 years back I took GRE, put all efforts to do MS from US. 2 years back, I got this opportunity to live that life but I feel I don’t enjoy hustle culture/ city lights. Don’t like cafe hopping or anything. I feel at peace when I visit my hometown, my paternal/maternal houses, Varanasi Ghats. I have 1.3 Cr INR but given I’m just 30. As per Finfluencer or by my sane calculation, this is not sufficient. Post marriage, this is certainly not enough. Should I take a break and assess or just keep pushing myself to earn more and then go for FIRE. Hoping for constructive feedback.

Let's face it, bangalore is expensive, in terms of value for money. There are so many infrastructure issues. Travel issues etc But at the same time, Bangalore is the major leagues for tech in India. Events, meetups, startups all are prevalent mostly in Bangalore. Given all this, and having a choice on where you wanna stay, what would you choose? 1. Bangalore 2. Other city? 3. Lead Nomadic life, Travel around city to city, state to state, country to country?

I am interviewing at Tesla Germany and my girlfriend is studying at University of Freiburg. She is now forcing me to come to Germany. What should I do? I think India will become the greatest country in the world and I want to stay here for growth but she is saying that life here is sad. Germany is much better according to her where she goes clubbing in Berlin and often travels between Germany, France, Italy and Netherlands whenever it is her semester break.

Background: I have always lived and worked across only Tier 1 cities of the country (was in a Tier 2 city for couple of years) Though I love the ease and standard of living, the costs are insane. Plus all types of pollutants, lesser respect for humans Suggest non Tier 1 cities which offer - house on rent to single women - have electricity back up - Swiggy/Zomato connectivity - decent internet speed

I am planning to settle down in one particular city in the next 3 to 5 years. I am currently evaluating Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune. From long term perspective ( for next 20 to 30 years) Which city will offer better job prospects ( IT/Software Development/Product Management/Strategy related jobs) along with a decent life style supported by satisfactory amenities like Gated housing options which are not super expensive, Good schooling options for kids, Decent commuting facilities like Metro, wide roads etc. Interested to hear feedback from folks who went through or going through this dilemma.
