Exactly..... When I send a eam to meet an investor to raise funds, looking smart is more important that being smart.
Infact, the more these people have preferred graduates for certain roles it's better for T2 grad. It's gives us more job opportunities.

Omg, what a dumb thing to ask. I want to vomit... Okay, now that expected reaction is out of the way, let's try to understand why someone might have such a requirement:
VCs, especially early ones, work on sourcing. A person who has IIT-IIM tag, has access to both the networks - IIT Network and IIM Network. That gives you access to new founders, some of whom will make billion dollar companies. Will you get access to all such founders? No. Will all unicorn founders have these creds? No. But do VCs believe that several "good" founders have these creds? You bet. There are funds like IvyCap, who just back IIT/BITS founders. So, it's not a leap of faith that a VC would have this as a requirement.
