Hood is so pathetic. Anyone can build an anonymous social media platform, and in Hood there is nothing different that they have added. No categorisation, no control on spam, avg engagement per post very low, etc so many problems. It is a great opportunity for Grapevine to market themselves aggressively out there as a better alternative to Hood.

How does companies like Grapevine/Blind/Hood make money?

How big is the market for these type of companies?? 🤔

Pardon me for being so naive here. I want to understand this new type of startup trend.
1. What’s the source of motivation for their employees to stick to their jobs?
2. How do apps like these think of monetizing? There is no ad, no paid feature per say.
3. Grapevine has probably built some kind of a platform. But how is this different from platforms like twitter, facebook or any other social media platform?
4. How much money do you think has been invested into building apps like this?
5. The DAU of this app based on my wild guess must be around 5K. I may be completely wrong here.
6. What according to you is the current valuation of grapevine?
7. Saumil Tripathi, the founder of grapevine is ex-google employee as per his LinkedIn profile. There is no mention of any other any other startup he owns. 
8. Grapevine has a team of 10 employees (as per Saumil’s post a few weeks back)
How do these guys make money?

I’m awestruck by the guys working in grapevine. Building an app of this quality with no monetization in sight!

At one time I had contemplated building an app like grapevine. i.e. blind for India. Kudos to Grapevine folks for executing on the idea and actually building it. There was one wacky idea I had which I'll share. Rest assured it's wacky. 

A company based/wide live chat for anonymous internal ranting. The dream was that the entire  company would chatting and voicing their realistic thoughts during a boring ass all hands meetings. 

Of course there are legal problems with this as chances are you might get sued etc etc also the problem of verifying people from an org without comprising on anonymity. 

Anyway let me know your thoughts.

The difference 🤯😱

Kya dikat hai bhai, udane do paisa. Tumhare thodi hai. 

Good firms genuinely perform well and return money. The ecosystem is not forgiving -- you don't survive very long if you don't create any big wins. It's an extremely high stress job with very little WLB. You do make money but it comes at a cost.

Layoffs are sad but at least those jobs existed in the first place? They wouldn't without VC money. India's VC scene is extremely young and it'll take time before we produce a Google. Entrepreneurs are not always right, they are not always nice either; but they definitely are courageous.

Unpopular Opinion: VCs get a lot of crap for no reason

VCs kill many startups with unrealistic targets that the main problem. Not every business is designed to give ultra quick returns VCs want . They ruin well potential startups

Please do update your app to access the fastest Grapevine yet :)
