How do you do stock picking research ?
- I look at the past data , mostly Profit, growth and p/e value (undervalued) - look for forecast reports on ticker tape, etc - look at trader sentiment on Moneycontrol , online portals etc What else can I do to improve?
Read about the company on https://www.valueresearchonline.com/stocks/
You can also try any full scale broker like ICICIDirect , they publish stock reports with complete explanation behind their thesis.

I also like to look into their market share. Are they leaders or followers in their respective business segment? If they are leaders, are they doing enough to stay competitive and maintain their position?
If they are followers, are they investing enough to improve their market share and take on the leaders? R&D/Capex investments?
Nice so you do deep research.. what are the sources of research? And do you pick stocks in only few business sectors which you know of or open to any good company ?
Sources vary depending on what industry you're looking at, but all of this information comes from old school secondary research on google. Or some say market research/ competitive intelligence. Play around with relevant keywords for your industry
I have preferences for certain sectors but I keep myself open to good companies if I read something compelling about it in the course of research
