How much do Product managers with 6+ years(4+ into pm and 2yrs in project management and consulting) of total experience make?
How to negotiate your salary when the recruiter asks what is expected? Let's say your current pay is 28(25 fixed and 3 variable). What is the maximum that you could ask and they could offer? Any tips and suggestions on asking better offer? Recently I came across a post that says PMs earn in the bracket of 35 to 50lpa.

Share the stats as to what companies are paying to candidates like you. Market has people esrning 35-40 for same experience and I expect similar.
You can also mention other companies where you have got leads from. Say, I am speaking to 2 other companies and they are willing to pay 40.
Try to negotiate on fix first and then variable. ESOPs should be over and above. Do not substitute the fix part with esops wven if esops value is 3x of that fix part. Not all companies go public.

Never ever reveal your salary at the start of these interviews. If they ask for it, just say my expected salary is in this range.
If it's out of budget, they won't get back to you. And you would have saved your time as well.
Once they proceed with the interviews, you also need to understand how ur interview is going. Do you have any leverage (on target experience, specialization, early availability, their need etc)
Once you understand your leverage, you can use that to justify your ask.
Don't be afraid to ask, if you don't, you will mostly undercut yourself.
But while asking, don't be arrogant. Be polite and respectful, say you want total comp to be this, which can be split as fixed + variable + joining bonus. And you need X amount of RSU/ESOPs etc. Justify your ask.
It they really like you and want you, they will come back with a reasonable offer
