Importance of health and term insurance

Both parents were school teachers. Still they never took any of those. So I don't have any knowledge about is it important or not to take. I have some ling term health issues for which I have to do costly checkups each year. Shall I take both of them and if yes where to get it please guide me. I'm 23, M. Just started earning few months ago.
