Indian VC ecosystem heating up, global funds incoming
Too many instances of global funds entering India. This will be interesting. The big existing ones (Peak, LSIP, Accel, Elevation) will be forced to deploy because the new ones will have a lot more appetite.
General Catalyst investing in Zepto for example. Entering with a bang.
Glade Brook, GC, and rumours of the two biggest ones in the US - one that used to exist earlier here.
Interesting times ahead for founders and invest.

This could be massive for startups in India. Specially if there’s suddenly an extra $2 Billion of powder around

I'm not hopeful tbh. These funds only pick large companies to double down on. Even seed stage funds don't do small cheques anymore.
Too many seed and pre seed startups need support and chase VCs only to get disappointed with excuses.
What we really need is funds willing to deploy less than 1Cr in multiple early stage startups.
What we're actually getting is more funding for zepto, rapido etc. and funding rounds larger than 5-10 Cr which will also require startups with significant traction already that don't need that money as much as the pre seed and seed startups.
To that point, South Park Commons just started out in India
They cater to this
Most of these funds will focus on Seed/Series A too, not on large companies only
Large companies is only the flavour of the season, while it's unclear where the world is moving to

Likely going to be very good for startup jobs. Salaries have fallen quite a bit over time
