Hi All. I am working for a US company from India. My manager is based in US as well. More than 50% of my team is in US too. I am constantly in catch up mode because there is no proper communication from leadership. I am usually the one who has to burn the midnight oil or be the early bird. Not only is it impacting my health (I get migraines because my trigger is less sleep) but it has started impacting my family too now who blame me for doing so much with very little returns. No promo though it was promised a year ago. What should I do? Please note that I have a mortgage so quitting job is not an option.

I would also like to address those who said that the story is fake. It isn't. I genuinely posted this here because as a woman it is hard to find spaces online to vent my frustrations. I was genuinely distressed at the moment and my flatmates did take care of me. I also received tons of support from the community here and I am thankful for that.

Here's what happened next:
I decided not to press charges as I am living away from my family and I don't want this to be the reason they start interfering in my personal freedom. Over the weekend, she apologized and invited me for dinner, I obviously declined because she acted all insane before.

But she is literally so dramatic that she lied to everyone that I came to her house and hit her so hard that she puked all over her clothes. Thankfully, their society has CCTV coverage and I didn't even leave my home all weekend. So, no one believed her this time. 

Our group thankfully supported me throughout this and the colleague is no longer in the group. Now, I just want to get over this traumatic experience which when I look back at is too unreal to even think about.

(Trigger warnings ) I had a mental Breakdown two days where I actually contemplated to off myself. I feel I am completely stuck in my current job and mental health has taken a free fall. There has been nothing to look forward to in my job career is absolutely stagnant I remember days i stayed up in night just ensure smooth deliverables but none of that translated to promotions or hike well I know you all will say why didn't you switch this is where the problem is I cannot bring myself to actually concentrate and prepare it seemingly a huge effort for me. I see a lot of people with some years of experience earning in the range of 10-15 LPA. At the same time I see people with same experience earning 50-60 LPA. I know switch is one of way to get the package you want and companies don’t give enough increment and all that gyaan.

My question is a bit different. Even when people from 10-15 LPA apply to bigger companies, the company is only willing to give them 30-40% of hike. And that includes the likes of a lot of top tier companies (don’t count FAAANG)

So people who really reached high packages, what is the secret sauce here. Asking as a friend of mine is struggling for months. He works at Accenture so either the companies that call don’t wait for the notice or give only 30-40% hike at max saying this is market standard for the role

What is your take on it, exclude job hopping in few years because even that doesn’t work for some people or some profiles.

Story happened during my internship. Another team was pitching a company in Argentina. The Data Engineering operations being pitched were very complex. 

Now you might know that currency in Argentina in Argentina Peso. The intern googled wrong and wrote the deck using the symbol for the Philippine Peso.

The rest of the team copied her currency symbol from slide to slide. 

The BU head ended up pitching with a deck full of Philippine Peso symbols. The prospective client interrupted him at the first slide and asked him “It is not a good first impression.”

They didn’t win the client. Also, the intern was blacklisted from the company and every company the BU Head had any relationship with.
