A friend recently got a SME IPO. 1.2L Rs was the investment and it is expected to open at 100% premium. So basically around 1.2L profit. (>1L limit for capital gains)

His income is 45K for this year, hence under the exception bracket. 

So if he sells the shares tomorrow itself is he liable for STCG or not?

Quite curious about this because my understanding is that government is more watchful about cash credits. So would transactions like someone paying u through Wise/Brex/Paypal and the likes get recorded with expectation of us declaring it as extra income for tax ? I am not talking of inward remittance. Another example is u held some paytm gold for few years but now u sell some of it. Is it ok not to mention any of this while filing ITR? Anyone has some experience do share.

I am a salaried person and ofc income is less than 50 lac and also I have invested in stocks,ipo and mutual funds. And some of I sell in less than 1 years and holding maximum of them. So can anyone plz tell which ITR I need to file and can help me with clearing more doubt in future. As I have joined last year as a fresher so this is my first time.

Warning: This is a lengthy post. 

Filed some salaried ITRs during this tax period. Following are some of the common mistakes which can be avoided

1. If you have changed jobs ensure that income from previous job is disclosed to the current employer and TDS gets deducted correctly. One basic check you can do is the TDS deductions made by new employer should not be lesser than monthly deductions done by your previous employer unless you have lower CTC compared to your previous job or have additional deductions.

2. During Feb/March take your bank statement, trading account statement and declare the income from capital gains, dividends and interest to your employer, so TDS can be deducted accordingly. Helps in avoiding surprise cash outflow in July and saves from paying interest @ 1% per month on this tax

3. If you have ESOPs/RSU from Foreign Companies this should be disclosed in Foreign Assets and liabilities schedule. Some employers would have opened bank accounts in that country to settle your ESOP transactions. This is also required to be disclosed under foreign bank accounts. If the ESOPs and RSUs are from unlisted Companies then it also has to be disclosed under unlisted shares held. Additionally if you are Indian resident as per the Income tax law (most of you will be) your global income becomes taxable and any dividend received on these ESOPs or capital gain on sale of ESOPs of foreign Companies has to be offered to tax. However, if there are taxes deducted on these transactions the same can be claimed by filing Form 67.

4. For current year if you are in salary bracket above 20 lakhs then new regime will be beneficial mostly unless you have housing loan interest  from Self occupied property. Under new regime Employer contribution to NPS up to 10% of basic salary can be claimed as exemption.

5. Get a good consultant today itself and plan the your finances accordingly. In case of salaried individuals there are very less avenues to save tax after March

Suppose i am given 100 $ the. How much tax will i have to pay like forex, LTCG or STCG

How tax is calculated for given stock

Heyy folks, will be highly thankful for any clue. I am entering LTCG of just 59K, and yet ITR starts charging 20% tax on it. I have already tried entering it in different-different sections, but nothing worked. Now, I am thinking to delete the current saved form and start all over again, just in case it is some temporary issue on their side with their serve side caching? Where exactly the LTCG needs to be entered that, that 1 lakh exemption is obtained?

I am thinking of withdrawing funds from MFs I have invested in with LTCG ~ ₹1 lac and reinvesting the entire amt into the same fund. This is to book gains and avoid taxes. I know STCG will have to be paid which i am okay with.
Anything fundamentally flawed with this process or a normal practice?

Say you have ESOPs in a company. Once the company goes public, is there a holding period applicable for the esop before which it can not be sold?
Like 1 month/3 months/6 months holding periods?

Can someone also explain how the conversion of ESOPs to RSUs happens after IPO?

Hi, experts 
I was filing itr, so needed help, I started my job from May 2022, but before that I did an internship where I got salary credited to my account , it was around 1500 for one month (March) for this assessment year and also they did deduct a tds of around 300 rupees which I can see on my itr home page . So should I include those amount in my gross income while filing tds ( I have only included my current gross salary) ?
