Hi, I interned at a startup for frontend developer for 6 months, January was my last working month as I had my college exams and this startup still hasn't transferred my unpaid salary for January, I called the owner today and he was saying that he will not give salary because he did not like quality of work. He had fired 3-4 people citing the same reason in previous months and they still have not received their salary.

I told him that I will proceed legally and he threatened me that I can call whosoever I want and in return he would mail my college to block me from placements and will not give experience letter

What should I do?

I am currently doing an SDE Internship in one of the startups in gurugram. Initially I was given a 6 month intern + full time offer, all went well, but in the last month this company is revoking full time offers of some interns  and extending the intern offer to 3-4 months. I worked with an early stage startup for 3.5 Years. Since this January they started facing a fund crunch and delayed our salaries. I left the job in May but till date they haven't paid me 3 months salary. Upon asking they say they don't have funds to pay salary, we will pay when we close our funding round. What should I do in this case. Should I wait and hope they will pay or just forget about it any suggestions?

So I joined a company through a referral. The referral is from a good friend that I trust. After joining the company, there were issues like a laptop taking time to get delivered etc. 

After 2-3 weeks, my RM, the CEO started showing the true colors. He started accusing me of cheating during the interview assignment. Said, I should work on my personal laptop (I don't have any) and when I told him that I don't have it, he just simply mocked me for it.

The issue is, he is not giving me a salary now. I have been connected with him and HR and all they are doing is making this in me. There is no official notice on salary delay or anything. What should I do? I am a bread earner and my family depends on me. Please help. How should I proceed about it

I was coerced into putting in my resignation without any severance or notice period. It didn't bode well with the founder when I refused, and he terminated my employment with immediate effect.

I haven't received a salary for the last month I worked there. The founder and the team are not responding to any of my calls, emails, and text messages.

Any advice on how to navigate this? Contemplating the legal route now.

My employer has this system of group of companies coming under one single startup umbrella. He has been delaying my salary for the last 5months with 2.5months worth of salary still pending. Now I got job outside and wanted to resign as soon as possible now. 

Last month he moved me into a other company inside the group, I signed a new offer letter. But the salary from that company for aug month hasn’t received yet. Now can I resign without mentioned notice period stating that I didn’t received my salary yet?

I recently worked for a company with a small team, so I was in direct communication with the CEO. Initially, he promised to pay me after my final settlement, right after my last day following my termination. However, a month later, he claimed I didn't complete a notice period. What should I do now?

A friend of mine left a small startup (less than 10 people) because they were paying him peanuts inspite of high workload (9am to 11pm, remote work) and were not willing to give any raise (they were paying him less than 50k per month after working for them for 6 years).

They often used the carrot dangling tactics where they would promise him and the others for "bright future ahead", which would eventually fizzle out to nothing but excuses.

Now that he has left, they are not clearing his FnF settlement of last 2 month's salary but are asking him to return his laptop. They are saying that they don't have any money and the current clients are not paying anything, and they can only pay when the clients pay them.

Can they take any action if he decides to not return the laptop till his FnF settlement is cleared ?

PS: the laptop is clean, no monitoring software installed. It had been completely formatted before being given to him. So it's as good as a personal laptop.

I won’t shy away from taking the name - Mr. Manas Sunita Pal, founder of Pedalstart(Gurgaon based) is threatening the employees against exit. Here are some of the ill-intent actions taken by him;

1. Threatening to provide bad feedback to next company/college if in case an employee leaves the company. He even sent out letters with poor feedback to college of some interns who left due to the toxic culture. 
2. Asking employees to pay for the training and time spent in the company. According to him the employees are liable to pay to him as he has spent time with them training them. 
3. Making employees work more than 18 hours everyday. Employees have a KRA where they have to take part in late night discussions at his flat and failing to do so would affect your promotions
4. Abusing the employees and using vulgar language against them

I know all this because I know a few people working at the company. 

Can you folks let me know what could be the course of action for the employees. Can we do something to call out such toxic founders?

The founders are sayings that they’re in process of raising the funds and have been delaying the salary payment deadlines every time. What are my options in case they don’t pay the salaries at all. Is there any way I can push them to make the payments asap. Any legal route or and advise grapeviners.

I'm a 2021 graduate from a tier 3 college. I was working at a small startup based in Bengaluru that is into SAAS. The headcount is less than 20 and a completely remote job.

I don't have any notice period. I was told that I can leave the company whenever I want without any prior notice. And it's not mentioned anywhere in the contract. I had a promotion due in September 2022 in which the new agreement was supposed to be implemented where I had to serve a 90 day notice period and salary hike of 15% of my current CTC.

But the promotion was put on hold till now. I asked them multiple times but I was told that it's on hold indefinitely due to "shortage of funds".

On December 31st I sent a resignation letter as it will be my last working day. Even though it was a very short notice, I completed all the documentation about the things I worked on. Anyone who can understand English can deploy the entire product. And moreover everyone had worked on the product and almost everyone had a good understanding of the product. 

Sometime in 2021, I received a bonus of 62k which was sent to my personal bank account (the company itself didn't have a corporate account back then). Since the company didn't provide me any work laptop, I was told casually that I can use the bonus to purchase a new laptop or keep it to myself.

I made a mistake of now waiting to get the December month salary before resigning. Now he's telling me that the bonus he sent is for the company laptop and it will be adjusted as my December month salary. When I asked about the purpose of the bonus was not to get the company laptop but to keep it myself, he's refusing to accept it. (Almost everyone in the company uses their personal laptop).

And coincidentally there was a service outage as the company uses free services wherever available (for example, oracle cloud free tier, free version of slack, GitHub and lot more). Continued in comments....

Hey guys, I have been working in a startup company for 3 weeks. I am a fresher and I am forced to work on weekends and even during holidays like 2nd of Oct. My Team lead always tells me to come to the office during weekends and he says it's an order. I am working in sales and the reason they gave is that we have to work as festivals are coming.

How should I tell my team lead and manager that I  am exhausted and can't work like that. I am totally new to the Job life and don't have any clue how to move forward. Please help!

Need help! Been working 7 days a week since 3 weeks.

Hi all i hve joined a blooming startup pre covid and got hired as a devloper and they put me into sales first to understand their product as a pre training. 

Nearly 1 yr i was still at sales and got to know i have been scammed i absconded. Now the hr are playing around not letting me have my service letter even i asked them to pay my notice period price yet they are taking it personal. ANY SUGGESTIONS!!!

How can i leagaly get serving letter if i have absconded.

I have been working there full time. Still they aren't able to pay for last 5 months. Whenever I ask them about salary, they justify it by saying that they are trying to get funds, but to get the funding we need to create the product first.

To take care of my family and myself, I am working as a freelancer in the freetime. I don't know what to do?

My senior  just got fired for questioning  his low appraisal from company.The guy literally build all the backend ,infrastructure and all. From which they are making money.
Management  said _ we don't have work for you here.And then when he said ok fine iam quitting  they didint even give him 2 months notice period. 
He was asked to leave that day only.

The Management is not even giving him 4 yr experience  letter . Telling  he didint serve notice period. 

His stack are angular, php,llm models.
One of the smartest guys I have met.

It's gonna be long thread. 

I have been working as lead engineer in a early stage startup since last one year. 

Founder (20 years exp in Product Management) raised some money from friends & family to start it and but company was running negative from February and he put his money to pay employees salary for March & April and We were hoping for some investment in April but that didn't happen. 

During May & June, he was looking for funding more aggressively and even after having a good background in academics & top tech work experience in product management, no investor got convinced to invest in it. 

Our salary for March & April was delayed from actual payroll date by 7 days and 21 days respectively and We were expecting our May salary to be delayed by same period and our company was about to complete one year in first week of July so we had some one year benefits associated as well. 

But Boom, he invited everyone on call and tells that company will shutting it's operation from next day itself. And he will help us find our new jobs and he doesn't any clarity on pending salary. 

Although we knew, our company is not in good shape so salary cut or something might be happening soon but didn't expect this. 

Now, we have to find other jobs and also be unemployed while searching for job and also get exploited by other companies because we will be desperate to find jobs to pay our bills. 

I think, he did this just before 5-6 days of our one year anniversary just because he doesn't get legally bound to pay our one year benefits. 

I for sure, not gonna join any early stage in future who doesn't have enough funding. 

Just wanted to put this story out of my mind. Open for any suggestions you have for me

Hey, this is first time working for small startup, it's been almost 2ywars now and this company os not giving me salary slip, I have asked a few times but they keep ignoring the request. Also, being a small startup i don't get any ppf and other benefits. How should I go about it. I have recently heard that not being on ppf may let new recruits doubt about the credibility of work. They have lot of pending salaries and not having salary slip makes it difficult to trak how much is pending and how much I have recieved. 
Any suggestions will be helpful.
