Idk about the selling off rumours, but he’s doing what those “sharks” are doing. In every field/niche, as competition grows, the incumbents are forced to level up their game. This can mean different things for different niches. There was a time when simply being an engineer was enough some decades back, and now engineers are expected to be proficient across multiple tools/technologies/frameworks.  
 For Indian entrepreneurship, it seems like the next big step now is to garner, shape and build a public persona that also serves as a proxy social capital for your own venture. He’s adopting the shark strategy with youtube/linkedin as his distribution. And that strategy is still a valid strategy so I don’t think what he’s doing is *not* entrepreneurial. In fact, if anything its even more entrepreneurial- to be able to go from “the 18 hour work comment maarne wala” to “celebrated cpg entrepreneur” via that barbershop initiative is quite an interesting and successful strategic manoeuvre. This acid mf op has started posting some bs superficial sentence of a “hot take” posted here to farm grapes or whatever engagement is coined here so id say its about time he stops acting like a cringe karma farming redditor on this platform - axiom 📈🤷‍♂️

His attempts to appear as if he has everything figured out contrast sharply with the company's troubling financial situation and operational challenges.

The podcast feels fully paid but is not revealed which is illegal.

So I've been fed his podcasts a lot lately by the  YouTube algo. And while it's amazing one of India's best startup entrepreneurs is getting really good guests to come on his show, I just can't stand him. 

He interjects before the guests have a chance to finish their thought and at times it feels like the podcast is a platform to air his views rather than the guests. Especially his insistence on traumatic childhoods as a prerequisite for greatness and why  capitalism is best.

PS: Please don't come at me like his fans in the comments, legit want to know if this is just me or something others feel too.

They were backed by Elevation and Accel, had raised ~$7mn
Seems like getting transactions to happen was too tough, despite building a network. Getting money out of Indian SMBs, a consistently tough model.

Kunal Shah says something that’s not widely accepted in the Entrepreneurship world 👏🏻

It’s considered immature to speak negatively of your past employers. But i am going to share some anyway. 

Used to work at Oyo with Ritesh - directly. Havent seen a more deluded personality - high headed, pretentious and above all, bipolar. He used to speak so rudely at times that it makes you question if the money is worth it. I have often wanted to tell some people - if he invested all the softbank funding into Nifty, LPs would have had a decent return than the ever failing IPO attempts. 

I am so glad the valuation reality kicked in and humbled these founders down. At the end of the day though they amassed a lot of wealth. But at what cost.
