JioCinema Appoints YouTube India Head as New CBO

• Ishan Chatterjee, former managing director of YouTube India, has been appointed as the new chief business officer at JioCinema.
• Chatterjee will focus on driving revenue growth across sports and entertainment, and oversee the platform's overall monetisation.
• This comes as Reliance Industries plans to merge Disney+ Hotstar with JioCinema, aiming to expand JioCinema’s content offerings.
• JioCinema had 225 Mn average monthly active users, while Disney+ Hotstar had 333 Mn, according to Reliance Industries' annual report 2023-24.
• Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Company have also set up a joint venture combining the businesses of Viacom18 and Star India Private Limited.
