Hey GRAPEVINERS, I came on this amazing platform 2 months back and soon I got to know that even anonymously I feel awesome connection with you all-( The identity without revealing the identity), whether it's about asking for masters abroad or about product management, someone was always there in the comments with satisfactory response that cleared my queries .
we are waving bye to 2023 , it actually taught me a lots of things -somethings were great ,somethings were worse , but whatever it is , that's making me stronger day by day , I hope 2024 will bring the best out of me as I am trying to work on myself and I hope guys it will be great for you too

If there’s anything we did well this year, it was in creating a space where smart, talented, high-potential people like to spend time and communicate with each other on topics ranging from work, salaries, personal finances, life, philosophy, technology and so much more

- Best part is that growth here (read: love and grapes) is based on personality and not (my) face 😂

- This community has seen it all: rants on my job, boss, interns, finding a new job, dodging a notice period scam, losing the job, brain-fkng ITR, to garnering 12k grapes! 

- This platform has India's top professionals: people from/in top colleges and companies, doing groundbreaking work, yet humble enough to discuss random things with me. I’m so awed tbh * insert the puppy face eyes *

- Another thing I love about being here is keeping my creativity alive. So many (so many) triggering comments, and if I am not impulsive, I come up with great comebacks!

- I have gotten into such petty debates and also abruptly left conversations (common in millennials, no?)

- In hindsight, maybe revealing my gender wasn't the best idea.

P.S. @Michael_Scott didn’t promise me airpods (yet). 
Please stop making me sound desperate. Someone mentioned I could get a job and buy the airpods, but it is (never was) about the airpods.

2. One book a month 📕 - This is something I’ve tried over and over but never seemed to achieve.
3. Delve deeper into devops 🔄
4. Complete a few side projects I’ve had in my backlog for months
5. Quit smoking 🚭

Nothing but a gratitude post for the amazing community of people i got introduced to thanks to this app.

I'm just a 22 yo kid new to all the corporate jargon of savings and investments and taxes and wlb and all of that stuff, and i believe this platform has helped me tremendously to gain knowledge of

- why we should have an emergency fund and how to build it. Really needed a perspective of how it should look like and GV gave me exactly that
- how to manage investments, I've started to earn a bit well recently so definitely a huge ups on the knowledge I got on investments here.
- how to become a better swe. Some amazing folks occasionally drop in some very rare tips, love to learn more and get an insight into how exp folks think and work.

and lots of other stuff such as which startups to be aware of having shite culture, good places to join, occasional memes and everything else.

Terrific product in the making, would love to see it scale even more in coming times.

YAAY MY GRAPEVINE DMs FINALLY WORK

Last week, I was wondering how long has it been for me since I joined Grapevine. Scrolling through OTPs, I realized that the first time I "may" have joined the app is exactly one year ago since today.

It has been a hell of a ride. I have had insane conversations with some of the best minds in this country. It also made me appreciate how the same people who will be discussing Finance in one post also end up talking about Nietzsche in another post. 

I have always felt that we all have great stories to share in our lives. Grapevine has always been a place where smart people in this country have contributed to the collective knowledge here. 

Lastly, there are always a ton of gloomy folks around you, they are doomsayers. That is always because people in general are more optimistic about their future and that remains a mainstream emotion. Which means that the cost of being wrong is low and the praise for being right is high when you are negative all the time as it is a contrarian take.

But let me tell you the most important thing, India is becoming big. No matter what may come our way. People will crib about things as they should, but don't let that deter you from building in India and staying in India. There is a ton of money to be made and you should aim to be on the right side of history.

Exactly 1 year ago, I joined Grapevine. Some thoughts and musings.

It’s therapeutic because you can share different aspects of your life that you can’t talk about on other platforms. For instance, you can't criticize the Ola CEO on LinkedIn, demand justice for the Kolkata rape case on Twitter without getting a notice from the Kolkata police, or express unhappiness on Instagram because that’s not the vibe of that platform. But on Grapevine, you can do all of this and more.

Funny enough, I’ve been able to analyze different aspects of my personality (and all my different personalities). My brain works a lot, I talk a lot, and I think a lot. Over the past year, I've realized I see things very differently than how society, media, or authorities expect me to. Grapevine has been a tool for understanding myself better. I can share a thought, and maybe 15 people will respond—some agreeing, some disagreeing, and a few might even call me names. But that’s okay, that’s just how they function. All part of self-discovery.

Another thing I appreciate about Grapevine is that it removes the halo effect we often have. Our names, colleges, and companies are masked (some who haven't revealed them), reducing the blurring of judgments. We connect with people on a more human-to-human level.

Grapevine is great if you're looking to find a partner, lover, or simply make new friends and expand your network. You can be yourself, and the people who know you here often know you better than those you meet at college, work, or even within your family.

[Long Post] I think I understand why Grapevine works well.
