Gojek was known for its great culture, this is sad

They've had a hiring freeze since last July! Their stock recieved a massive beating in the public markets, the writing was on the wall. I happen to have a lot of inside information and many of their existing f employees were complacent even after the first round of layoffs. So part of the blame is on the employees who bought into the bullshit sold to them. 
 I hear that they are laying off the entire talent acquisition team in India. Funny thing is that their leadership team (talent acquisition leaders) promised a promotion to many of these impacted employees about a month ago, only to inform them about the layoffs now. This leads me to believe that either there was a major disconnect within the leadership teams in India and HQ or this was all a drama to claim martyrdom instead of taking responsibility for complete failure of leadership!

Leadership has just became trash, no transparency. Even in last townhall (company wide meet) they kept ignoring questions. 16th February had meeting and didn't say there will be layoffs this soon.

Sad. I also have some friends working in Gojek.

Today, all of a sudden, some folks got emails that they have been laid off. There is an uncertainty around the transparency of layoffs now. It was communicated org wide last March and November when then last 2 layoffs were conducted. This time, no-one seems to know how many people got impacted and who got impacted.

Some people at head/lead/senior positions have started voluntary leaving as well. Not sure if they are being asked to leave or if they are leaving themselves.

Hard to see these things happening in a company with an amazing work culture. :/

Received at least 10+ emails of people exiting today. Most senior managers or leadership positions. 
Attrition is almost all time high. I got to know atleast 5 more are yet to quit. Something cooking?

I got to know a senior leadership member at a popular startup suggested to deliberately do poor appraisal for an employee so that she resigns herself.

Bad times ahead with companies forcing employees to join back offices and planning silent layoffs.

PS: By "forcing" I mean not leaving employees with much of an option other than to quit.

The company is notoriously famous for doing silent layoffs in the name of semi-annual performance reviews. Given that by next month their peak season will get over, they have started with the homework of preparing lists for people to do layoffs.

Urban Company has started to do silent layoffs again.

Heard from multiple people that with Patrick taking the position of CEO that there are rumors circulating about an upcoming reorg and cost-cutting measures, with a strong emphasis on achieving positive EBIDTA to satisfy investorss. Some redundant products within the GOTO is likely to be merged and some team shuffling to happen.
It is uncertain how much of this information is accurate, and I can't imagine an impact this would have.
Silent layoffs, numerous senior leaders leaving and many actively interviewing is just unsettling.
Ideally, I would prefer to focus on my work and end the day peacefully, avoiding the stress of layoffs and excessive supervision. I hope that tomorrow's townhall meeting will not be awkward or gloomy.
