How the HRs react if you tell them you were laid off, please share your experience? Also, what other reason we can give for looking out for change in less than 5 months?

Has anybody here experienced a layoff that has kept up your love for the company. I’ve had a bad one that was done in 30 mins with a meagre severance and assets/accesses removed in 10 mins with a legal binding about a non social media disclosure Not mentioning which company for obvious reasons.

I am seeing lots of startups are firing these days even previous year it was happening. Would like to know the mindset of employees who got saved. Like to know what goes inside your head. How do you deal with this situation as it can happen with who got saved somehow, etc etc

Although you become the face of layoffs and you have to abide by what's instructed, how do you personally feel after a event like mass layoff? What steps do you take to avoid or minimise the impact in such cases?

Checking if there is anyone here who has had to layoff people... How did you do take it mentally and emotionally? Looking for answers from middle managers and HR folks who have to execute decisions taken by others.

Got to know through my network that Brainly india has asked the entire team from their MD to all junior folks to go. Reason - sudden change in strategy.. they didn’t let the product even launch.. the team was in full swing prepping.. impacted folks 30+ or around that number.. within 6 months of hiring everyone.. while in the interviews they promised 5 years runway.. long term strategy for india.. ceo didn’t even apologise.. they come hire Indians and let go at the drop of a hat.. the employment contract said that either party have to give 3 months notice to resign.. so that’s what they did they are giving 3 months pay not in one go but month on month and after that nothing. No severance pay, no bonus paid to eligible employees, no help in finding jobs , no mental health support, medical finishes in 3 months.. in this time when hiring is on global freeze they have treated Indians like puppets come hire and fire when you want, they have money in bank account a runway for 18-24 months.. still they couldn’t hold on to india team.. heartless way of dealing with junior folks how will we find jobs

I recently got laid off from my Company (they are unfortunately shutting down all major operations apart from sales) I worked to improve the company culture - benefits, engagement, learning and dev, wellness, cross team and inter city collaboration. Now that im job hunting, Im finding it incredibly difficult to find roles where the title of "people and culture" justifies the job description that is followed. Most often, the JD is an operations role where you only work on managing employee data, help with recruitment etc. So that brings me to the question - which are some of the startups that are truly looking to have a good culture and are open to hiring fresh talent?

I recently laid off, sometime ago. I was privileged enough so didn't really complained about it. But what i realised is: "Everyone should get laid off once in a lifetime." Reason being you stop being emotional about your job. Some people have a habit to treat job as a the only purpose their life has. Basically job gives them the validation which they never received from anyone. Also you realize the hard truth that you are just a number. "Resource" as they aptly call you. You realize your life has many dimensions than just serving someone. Quite an experience i would say, Kuch din to guzariyen lay offs mein!

After there was a layoff at your company 1- Impacted by layoff : Did your manager/team mates connect with you to keep you motivated? 2- The ones not impacted - Did your leadership/manager set up a team call to explain the reason for layoff and remove the fear/uncertainty that the rest of the people are safe. What did it tell you about the higher management of the company?

What are generally the metrics used during layoffs ? Is it division by division or each employee is vetted for his performance and contributions ? Do high salaried folks generally targeted even if they have good performance and history with company ? With the overall bleak atmosphere in startup ecosystem and lack of transparency in this process from employers wanted to know how are decisions made. Most say it is performance based in news, how true is that ?
