Leaving a stable relaxed company to join a startup.
This question is to anyone who left a stable job and joined an early stage startup. How did you deal with the uncertainty, the high pace, and the changes in life style. I have accepted an offer from a startup and i feel very nervous. Mainly because Im afraid of what if it doesn’t turns out right. I do not want to start looking for jobs again.
Giving a PM’s perspective, the 0-1 journey requires you to be okay with vagueness & requires a lot of non data backed decisions at the start.
It also requires you to be effective at constraint based problem solving. Since resources are amiss, you’ll have to prioritise delivery over quality.
Another thing is that you have a bunch of smart people to interact with daily at your company. In a startup, it’s only you with your problems. No one to discuss, refine ideas. This personally caused me a lot of anxiety.

He has strong character but i find he lacks humility and empathy. And i quite strict.

Is * quite strict
It depends on the team , your role and market. Analyse all these and take a call. Only thing different will be less people hence more work to do. And also don’t join any startup without good equity/esops.

What if the equity given is 0.03%
There is always uncertainty in startups/stable orgs. If you are willing to take up the challenge and want to experience high pace. Try it out!
