I got a remote job and planning to shift to tier 4 city. Major reason is to be with family and have slow pace life. The small town has good enough infrastructure including good internet and road connectivity.

Do you think it would be a good idea in short term or long term? I am planning to continue remote job only until the day comes where i wont be able to find remote job.

Is it good to shift to tier 3-4 city in case of remote job?

Yes it good idea , I’m doing the same .. 
 Your not missing anything.. your away from pollution, fast life , rat race . 
 You will be with your parents, relatives and loved ones what other we need in life just chill and relax

I am 22 year guy who is interested in development and loves coding.But somehow don't know have lost my interest completely in everything. During my final year of college. I had got a job offer for Associate software engineer role in a cloud based startup. My college didn't let me attend further placement opportunities due to recession  and when my college got over in May 2023 ,The company called me and informed that joining date was August 2023. But 4 days before the joining date,they revoked the offer. I was jobless and completely heartbroken at that time.After four months of grinding,I got a job in a testing based company. The company offered a 15k salary (13.5k in hand).
It's been already 9 months since my graduation and due to my bad financial situation in my family.I joined the company hoping, I would get a better increment after the training period is completed. But now it's been 6 months and they  are still paying me the same amount . This is not how I thought I would be leading my working life. I am not bragging about my self but I know,I  deserve better than this,I  am a MERN stack developer (I know, currently market is saturated with MERN stack developers),I have done app development in flutter, Basics of Machine learning.I am just sad not I am not working as a developer. I travel 2 hours for work and 9 hours of work. Daily 13 hours goes into this only.I come home tired and sleep. I am not blaming anyone for my situation,but I am mad at myself for not doing anything about it.Honestly speaking whenever I want to start something I will get confused and end up not doing anything.
I don't have anyone to guide me or to help
I am posting this,so someone in the tech community can help out

I have relocated to Tier 1 city after WFH for 4 years for working in hybrid mode I am becoming anxious thinking I am an outsider in the city and thinking will the city treat me well, will I survive in the workplace as I don't know local language and all that stuff.

Today my restlessness grew to a bad extent thinking all these how will I support my family if I am not able to help myself.

What should I do?

1. Should I learn local language ...is my worry valid?
2. Should I start looking for WFH options...are the companies providing WFH options?
3. Should I move to NCR region?

I just came back from United Kingdom after my masters in marketing. I am searching for a job and no luck so far. Now I'm just overwhelmed and don't know how to start over. 

People who searched for a job and got one. Where did start how did you upskill? I was planning to get AWS cloud practitioner from a long time? Is it worth it for marketing analyst and market research profile?

Where do I start?

I was recently impacted by layoff and having 20yrs of exp into application support and service management with last 10yrs grown into a middle management role(limited tech hands-on and no dev experience nor CS background)

While I am financially ok atm and can manage staying at home for next 12-24 months, I am not financially independent yet. its getting too boring and I want to get back into some sort of work routine as I am keen on retirement yet.

Challenges I am seeing with finding a new opportunity:

- The job market seems to be quite restricted for senior roles with that experience
- Few that came across were at a substantial low salary.  
- Some others required significant hands-on experience 

Thought process::

- While salary is not a major concern, I am not sure if I makes sense to take a pay cut.
- Given the speed of tech changes, not sure what kind of learning/certification would be helpful
- Even if I do tech self-learning, lack of practical hands-on seems to be a drawback
- At 40+ while I am open to work hard and learn, i view is to find a job and learn into it , rather than other wat round

Any guidance/pointers would be appreciated. As would any leads/introductions on suitable opportunities you know of.

Work feels monotonous at best and there is nothing challenging. I don't even care about the pennies I am earning, nothing feels good. No sense of purpose. Want to switch not even getting a single selection mail lol. Maybe my resume is weak IDK. 
Maybe want to pursue higher studies again IDK.
Maybe I want to change entire field and go into something animation related, again IDK. 
Ahh IDK what I am even writing, I just get bored of everything very fast and can't imagine myself working in same field for very long. Also, I want to learn everything at same time. Does any of this even makes sense!?

I am loving this phase of my life. Wlb is good.

Eating organic food, drinking clean water 💦 and breathing clean air 🫁.

More time for family and society.
Getting good sleep with deep sleep more than 2h consistently. No regional holiganism. Life ain't kinda hullabaloo which used to be case in metro.

Saving+investing 100% of my salary (thanks to my investments in last 7-8y)

I want to sustain this and live like this for rest of my life.

I am in late 20s and sitting on total 93L savings.

It will cross 8d soon but am confused on how to go through sustainability. 

Please help me navigate.

1. I don't want to do job. 
Startup or Meaningful work is my calling. In Covid i worked for multiple startups and helped them in many ways. MVP to PMF, am good at marketing, sales, HR and tech. Planning to join a remote startup or start my own. But it should be meaningful startup not just a bigger fool game.

2. I Can do agriculture side by side as I have around 15acres of land. It can give output = Median package of tier 1 mba. Have ideas like growing stevia, alovera and other useful stuff instead of wheat n rice like my old generation. Then it will be huge but again have to convince father. Startups like dehaat are helping in this as well.

3. Get a good franchise in nearby city like sleepwell, Pizza Hut, kfc or tamo and get regular returns.

4. Put all money in FD and get 50k/m return and live a happy life. (50k is more than enough for family of 5 where I live currently)

5. I love reading, blogging, debating, quizzing on economics, geopolitics, spirituality, semiconductor, politics and tech. Can build an online business around this on YouTube and internet.


Please guide me how to reach to correct idea and navigate properly with minimal risk.

I am 23M working in a well renowned Fintech startup. Have got what I have dreamed of in college like high ownership, good pay and other similar things. But lately realized that I can't do these things for my majority of life. Although I enjoy my work but still feeling lonely and aimless.

Previous to September it was remote but now they have made it hybrid and I have to reallocate to Gurgaon and now I am feeling more lonely and aimless in life.

Hello good folks of grapevine, I am very confused with my situation right now. I am currently working at a consumer tech unicorn in a strategy role but really burnt out with the working environment. I have no clarity on my roles and responsibilities which keeps changing every week. I am not learning much either. I am planning to quit without any offer in hand (notice period is 2 months, I have enough to survive 5-6 months). I am an IIT-IIM graduate (old ones). I have awork ex of 5 years and work with one of the best consumer tech startups in India making 32LPA and stocks. Lately, I feel that no matter how much you make here, the quality of life isn't all that great in Bangalore with the roads, pollution and what not.

At this stage, I can't lose 2 years of my time to a masters degree and start afresh in the USA.   At the same time, I'm not sure how to find  job opportunities in US, EU or even SE Asia.

I am a middle class guy working as a senior engineer in one of the product companies. I belong from the north-east, and I am the only child in my family. 

Since covid, I was working in a wfh setup. Recently, my company has ended work from home for everyone, and I am supposed to move to Bangalore very soon or quit. 

I am an active user on all social media groups on Reddit, Fb, etc. For the past couple of months after seeing so much of negative news about Bangalore, Especially the high population, skyrocketing rents, the auto unions, corruption, cut-throat competition, discriminative news, traffic issues, etc. It makes me nervous to be honest. My wfh here was pretty chill, and I had a very limited social circle here, but was satisfied since I could spend most time with my mom and dad. 

Im very afraid now about what should I do next, shall I quit the job and search for wfh, or shall I make my move. I don’t have any acquaintances there, no friends, no idea about what I’ll be doing next, how to start house hunting, or job hunting. At this point I am miserable and overwhelmed to think about all of this. 

Anyone who has gone through all of these, If you can share your 2cents, experiences or thoughts, about how you dealt this phase. It will be really helpful for me at this point in my journey. Thanks in advance! 🙏🏻

Over the years, I have realised I own no assets. 
Everything has been bought by parents EVERYTHING
My mom would always make sure she or dad paid, saying you can keep your money for yourself (which I initially thought was very sweet)
Now I see how I am dependent on them for all

What ever I have bought can be put into a polythene bag and that's all my life (I generally spend on food and stuff that goes away)
I have bought certain items for family or the house, but that isn't mine obviously 

I need to get out of the house, my mental health is at the edge

get out, experience the world, and then you will realise there nothing better than home. 
  
 I was in somewhat same situation as yours, I have a very controlling dad. in my 12th I had made my mind to do b.tech from a very far away college from a different state. then stayed away many years in different cities for job. I now realise the importance of being at home with family. when we grow up our parents grow too. we(dad n me) are now best friends. we drinked for the first time together last year and that was a very special moment for me.

Finished one year at my job, SDE-1, CTC-12LPA.

Learnt pretty much all I could from here- and they didn't give us any raises this year. I need to move out, since I feel the stagnation seeping in. I've given only one interview before in college placements, so I'm fairly daunted by shifting to another place.

I feel fairly hopeless since I'm completely out of touch with your standard DSA stuff. I need to start somewhere, some sort of planner or something to get me started.

I get that my problem really isn't as big as it seems, and it's all in my head, but with each day that passes with me not doing anything, I fall deeper and deeper down. Looking for advice. Thanks.
