Need help to Data Science path

Hi, I am a software engineer with 12 years of experience. I need some suggestions. 1: Is it too late now to learn Data Science and pursue a career in it? 2: If I want to learn the necessary concepts of ML what path I should follow? 3: I find the maths behind the ML models a bit confusing can anyone please suggest any good resource for that?

My 12 years of experience includes working with databases(both SQL and NoSQL), shell scripting Springboot, Python etc. I am not confused on maths, I asked because I wanted to know the mathematical concepts used by various ML algorithms, and I want to know in detail. Not just by importing the library and using the provided algorithms in it. I hope this has clarified your doubts about my education. Now coming to your question, like I said most of my work is related to databases and I do well in data analysis also. I have played roles like data analyst and data engineer, I also a got chance to do data analysis in one of the projects where the team was trying to build an ML model for a particular use case and because of that I got curious about how these models are working under the hood so I asked. Did you know about the ML models from your school?

If you are a software engineer start with MLOps and slowly move towards Data Science. That would be much simpler.. Start with Python and build on top of it

I am a fresher working as a Data analyst in a growing startup. My current role doesn't include much of coding just python and SQL and sometimes little bit ML work. Currently handling 2 projects, and some of PM work to define some roadmaps. I like engineering and coding in whole and want to know more. So do I switch to some SDE role or is there are more paths after Data analytics? I know ML, DL and NLP but not sure will it be a great choice to make career primarily in Data science.
