Need tips on Job switch and interviews.
I have recently applied for 5 different companies, and it's the very first time I'm going to be switching. Any tips for how I should go about negotiating in interviews and what happens if I'm not happy with the compensation they are offering. Should I still get the offer letter and keep it with me to ask for higher than what the first company offered? Any general tips will help. Thanks.
Also if I don't go in any of these companies and decide to stay, when am I eligible to reappear interviews? Is that cooldown period same for all companies?
Some selected companies don't allow this, but most do. I think couple of times in a year should be a good cooling time.
Don't be sad, if you don't get selected or even interviews scheduled from 5 companies. Many folks are not even passing the initial screening even after applying 30+ companies. Hope for the best. Always be ready to apply other companies.
Once you clear all rounds, try as you mentioned. It's a good strategy to sell current package to get higher CTC.
One advice, to increase your chances of getting interviews schedules, go through referrals, that too of your seniors, ex-colleagues, classmates. If they can vouch for you, it would be better and hr could select you easily
If you had cleared all the rounds and doing salary negotiations.. ask a very competitive package and ask for their opinion.. if you have cleared final round, then they generally do not directly reject you.. they always go like this is the maximum that they can offer.. from that try negotiating a little higher.. eventually you will end up in a midway.. before getting into discussion, pls have a look of their salary range in websites like AmbitionBox, Glassdoor to have a fair idea so you can make reasonable demands..
