- A 24-year-old student has died from the Nipah virus in Kerala, marking the second death this year.
- 151 people who came into contact with the victim are under observation to prevent further spread.
- The student showed symptoms on Sept. 4 and died five days later; a blood test confirmed Nipah infection.
- Five others with primary symptoms have had blood samples sent for testing.
- Kerala has been a hotspot for Nipah outbreaks since 2018, with dozens of deaths linked to the virus.

The new variant (JN1) apparently was identified in 56k people in SGP in a week. That's huge for Singapore.

'Because of its transmissibility, JN.1 can become the dominating strain of circulating COVID virus unless proactive preventive measures are not followed which are - frequent hand sanitization, usage of Triply mask, and social distancing,' said Dr Tushar Tayal, lead consultant, internal medicine, at CK Birla Hospital in Gurugram.

- Thailand confirmed Asia's first known case of a new, deadlier strain of mpox in a 66-year-old European traveler from Africa.
- The patient, who arrived on Aug 14, was diagnosed with mpox Clade 1b, a strain declared a global public health emergency by the WHO.
- The infected individual is currently quarantined in a hospital, with the specific African country of origin not disclosed.
- Mpox cases and deaths are surging in Africa, with outbreaks reported in several countries including DR Congo, Burundi, and Kenya.
- The new Clade 1b strain, more deadly and transmissible, has a mortality rate of 3.6%, particularly affecting children.

COVID 19 cases are back in India

I have received an email which starts, "I am a professional hacker, I have access to your operating system" it is saying they have some video of mine watching pornography and will make it viral. They are asking me to pay bitcoins. I searched on internet it said such emails are scam. I have reported to cybercrime portal.

Should I be worried??? Has anyone ever got such an email?? If yes, what happened??

- Central Banks have almost achieved their objective of controlling inflation through tightened monetary policy. Though the CPI is inching lower,  asset inflation is resurfacing through stock prices and real estate. 
- Many listed companies that came out with the quarterly numbers are nothing good to talk about. Growth and profits are subdued and for small and mid caps the numbers are decimated but the stocks are still trading at a historical premium. 
- Analysts will once again start downgrading the earnings forecast and that will start the downward momentum. Once again people will undergo the "Flight to Quality" effect. 
- No of Bankruptcies is steadily increasing 
- No of Job openings are trending lower
- Most of the US listed firms that have borrowed at a lower interest rate in 2021 are coming up for renewals this year. By the time they refinance, they will be doing it at a higher interest rate which will impact their PAT as a result their EPS estimates will take a biting. 
- Gold looks attractive from a market cycle standpoint. 

My Recommendation: 
- Have an emergency fund for at least 6 to 9 months to cover your expenses. 
- Exit overvalued small and microcaps stocks. Move to a reasonably valued large cap.
- Have health insurance for you and your dependents. 
- Move out of small cap mutual funds and have some allocation to debt funds.

I'm feeling burnt out in my current role.  Two years ago, I joined a SIEM vendor as a Cloud Security Analyst, but the title was a bit misleading.  I've actually been functioning more as a Site Reliability Engineer.

I've been pushing to move to a security focused team for a while now, but with no official security experience on my resume, it's been tough.

I stay on top of all the latest security threats and trends.  I even built my own home lab to experiment with replicating attacker behavior and writing detection rules to catch them. I'm aware of current geopolitical trends and their impact on cybersecurity.  I truly believe I have the skills and passion to be a great security analyst/ engineer.

The challenge is getting past the initial application stage. Despite my skills, I'm not getting interview callbacks. For example let’s say, I could potentially track and respond to an APT before a breach occurs, I can't showcase this ability without an opportunity.

So, that's where I'm hoping you guys can help.  Any advice on how to gain the experience needed to overcome these application rejections would be greatly appreciated.
