I have worked in 2 Indian-born startups, one of which has its branch in US and Europe. Almost everyday I have to reach out to folks both in India and in US to ask questions and get details regarding technical features.
Now, whenever I reach out to people in India, they all have this rude attitude while replying back. For example: if I ask a very detailed question they often don't respond back. Sometimes it takes 2 days, 2 followups to respond.
Example: As a new joiner I asked a dev "is there is any docs regarding certain product feature. If not could you point me to the PM or EM who worked on it?"
He took 2 days to respond and his response was "NO". Just No. He didn't even read the full text. 🤷🏻 In my 10 year experience, almost 5 in 10 indian employees behave this way.
Whenever I reach out to US folks, ofcourse they take time to respond but when they do they provide most of the info on slack; whom to reach, how to get access. They seem to have the courtesy to actually help.
I get it, we all are busy with stuff. But shouldn't we have a basic courtesy to atleast respond respectfully? Why is this need to act superior to others?
